@perthguppy@Turbinetraveler You are correct. It looked like there was a slight roll angle in the video, but in subsequent pictures I see the mains are still extended.
As a frequent international traveler, I would welcome and appreciate any help understanding local customs and courtesies. I try to avoid embarrassing myself and don’t want to assume my American customs are consistent with foreign practices. It’s stupid to call it racism…when in Rome…
I’m experiencing some of the downstream effects right now. I have a DHW plumbing issue I am trying to solve in my home. I hired an engineering consulting firm to help. It has been hugely frustrating, and a total waste of time and money. Despite being “experts with extensive MEP experience,” I have spent the majority of the time explaining basic fluid mechanics to them. I have an EE degree and gave them the 99% solution at the start. I was just looking for another engineer to validate my findings and check my work. Big mistake. What baffles me is that they don’t even know how to use a basic engineering approach to answer the questions I asked. It’s been a real black pill.
In my experience, this starts to happen from O-5 to O-6. But it’s really community dependent in the Navy. You will find a lot of good O-6s who come from the Tac Air community. SWOs are a different story…still some good ones, but fewer of them. The problem gets much worse at the jump from O-6 to O-7…it’s basically pure politics at that point.
The devil is in the details. I am all for eliminating property tax, but we really need to stop the progressive practice of taxing success. This is great for the median buyer, but leaves a lot to be desired for anyone with a more valuable home. Once you have 90% of homeowners not paying property tax (as the Gov outlined once we get to $500k), I suspect there will be little sympathy for the 10% still paying large sums of money. What does a schedule for full elimination look like? We fully eliminate the tax over the next 100 years? Again, I don’t want to rush to judge the plan, but nothing can be left to interpretation.
Yes. But even the DeSantis proposal is socialistic and very progressive. Can we please stop penalizing success? I am all for raising the homestead exemption to $250k and eventually $500k, but why not eliminate it all together? Why should people who have been successful be forced to pay exorbitant property tax? Because muh “democracy” I guess.
@fityourframe@GovRonDeSantis Yes I know, which is another reason the current property tax structure needs to go. My point is that your proposed solution doesn’t fix that issue. If you just eliminate property taxes on homesteaded properties all together, you fix the problem.
@CynicalPublius@KurtSchlichter 💯 And it wasn’t just the GWOT. These spineless excuses for leadership cheerled the woke/DEI/trans fiasco and stood by while the rank and file were run over by illegal Covid mandates. Disgusting!
As a Gen-Xer myself, I don’t think we are really “split” between both sides—at least not in a 50/50 sense. I would say the majority of “Republicans” side with younger conservatives. At least I hope that’s the case. The boomers are on their own as I see it, but it could just be the world I live in. I take comfort in the fact that when I found the liberty movement in 2002, it was tiny. The younger generations have seen the light, and the number of true liberty minded voters will continue to increase. Gen-X will not sell out the younger generations.
