We will uphold the rule of law as Phala Phala moves to impeachment process!
This is a serious moment for Parliament, for the Presidency, and for South Africa’s constitutional democracy.
The impeachment committee must now do its work properly, rationally, fairly and constitutionally. The President must have the opportunity to account fully.
This judgment also draws a clear line between the DA and the ANC. For too long, the ANC has presided over a political culture in which accountability is delayed, diluted or avoided when it becomes inconvenient. The DA stands for a different kind of politics in which the Constitution comes before party loyalty, and no leader is shielded from answering to the people.
Exposing an electricity price heist! Prices have gone up by over 900% and you’re paying the price.
📺Watch the DA’s Kelvin Mileham unpack how electricity costs have gone up. We demand accountability & an independent audit of NERSA to ensure affordable electricity.
@VimleshRajbansi Nice try. Sovereign guarantees are necessary to obtain those loans. Our balance sheet can't afford it. Also, how much have we spent on Koeberg's life extension? Do you know? Does anyone? Because they keep saying "its on budget" - based on a R20bn figure in 2010.
@VimleshRajbansi You still hav to put up sovereign guarantees (and no, the goat's proposed Credit Guarantee Vehicles are little more than offtake agreements), which means is IS going on the country's balance sheet. In our financial/economic situation, nuclear should NOT be a priority right now.
@VimleshRajbansi The question is whether we can AFFORD the infrastructure. Especially seeing as it willmonly cone online 10 to 15 years down the line....
@VimleshRajbansi Oh Vimlesh, how I've missed you! Have you asked whi is going to pay for the (~R1 trillion) nuclear new build? Because I have....
Hint: It's the ordinary South African - either through increased taxes or through higher electricity prices.
🤩 Good news for SA from the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement!
✅ Lowering of government debt
✅ Spending review to cut waste and save R6,7 billion
✅ Full audit of ghost workers
Watch as Dr Mark Burke, the DA's Spokesperson on Finance, unpacks some of the announcements.
📈 For 15 years, the DA has been championing the lowering of government debt. Finally, this has been achieved!
Every rand wasted on interest is a rand stolen from building schools, improving hospitals, and creating jobs. Less debt means more money for you and better delivery.
@MotlalepulaMa11@DugmoreN71068@Nathanxog@HermanMashaba Look at your claims: first you said the first DA Federal Congress was held in 2007. I've disproved that.
Then you said "April 2002 isn't a date", so I got specific.
Now you are calling me a liar for providing the facts. Were you there?
