Not sure if it is "millions", but irrational parents, delusional school athletic depts, pay to play, win by acquisition vs. development, unreasonable time/travel demands and the list goes on and on. youth sports is broken, period...across the board.
Landon Donovan says that "millions of kids" are falling out of love with soccer.
"Quitting at 13, 14, because they don’t want to deal with their parents yelling, or the coaches, or the pressure," Donovan told FOS. "And that’s not good for the sport."
"The current era of college football is unsustainable."
@joelklatt with more on the dangers that lie ahead unless guardrails are put in place in college football.
@KirkHerbstreit I am a Nittany Lion...what do I do when visiting another campus? Where's the stadium at??? Just visited Florida...son and I first priority, check out the stadium! Would do the same at Ohio State or Michigan...even though I wish many losses for them each year!
The LIV/PGA saga over the last half decade has reminded me of just how far removed professional golf is from golf itself.
Golf is a post-work twilight round at the club.
Golf is a regular Saturday game at your home muni.
Golf is sneaking away for a few hours early morning on vacation before the wife and kids wake up.
Golf is even better if they go with you.
Golf is the dance with nature, waltzing through a meadow, before stepping on your partners foot or into the bunker.
Golf is finding peace getting lost in ancient design, relishing in the reverence in one of the games cathedrals.
Golf is studying the chess match, and praying the swing can match the mind and be more useful than a pawn.
Golf is traveling abroad to make a loop around a track for the very first time.
Golf is wherever you find joy, and forgive a poor shot because you know your stroll is through paradise.
If you want to know what golf is not, at least not for us mere mortals, you can do it with whatever three letter acronym you wish.
The Hilton donated the ~2600 dinners that went unserved at WHCD. They freeze dried the steak and lobster for longer shelf life before giving them to 2 shelters for abused women and children. HUGE thank you to the staff that worked through the night under terrible circumstances.
Welcome home Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy! 🫶
The Artemis II astronauts have splashed down at 8:07pm ET (0007 UTC April 11), bringing their historic 10-day mission around the Moon to an end.
Congrats to the @Neuralink team for helping many people who have lost use of their body with our Telepathy implant that enables computer use simply by thinking!
The next generation Neuralink cybernetic augment with 3X capability will be ready later this year.
Pending regulatory approval, we are also ready to do our first Blindsight augment that will enable those who have even complete loss of vision to see in low resolution at first, leading to high resolution over time.
I searched the crowd for my father, knowing his thoughts were with my mother too. I wanted him to know this gold medal belonged to all of us. As we look ahead to the next Olympics, I'm reminded that behind every athlete is a family whose love & sacrifices make the dream possible.
@JoshPateCFB I pretty much make a blanket assumption that those who speak of "March Madness for CFB" as a worthwhile concept, don't really know a whole lot about CFB....like at all.
@EWErickson If Apple would allow for global governance of Safari (make it unavailable altogether) via Screen time setting...you might/could essentially have what you are suggesting.
Anne Frank was targeted and murdered solely because she was Jewish. Leaders making false equivalencies to her experience for political purposes is never acceptable. Despite tensions in Minneapolis, exploiting the Holocaust is deeply offensive, especially as antisemitism surges.
