@MikeNellis Agreed. My kid shouldn't have to think about his classmates that got gunned down outside his classroom and the blood-soaked hallway he had to walk through to leave the school or the teacher outside covered in blood. Let's address gun violence, not just add more security.
@RobMcNealy@clharrington024 Book fairs are fundraisers for the school libraries which are historically underfunded. And kids DO still read. I’m a children’s librarian at a public library and we are busier than ever.
@bannon1975 Some of my best memories of my kids’ childhoods are cuddling up together sharing books. Continued it through middle school. In high school, my youngest once brought out one of his favs and asked me to read it to him❤️. ‘The Old Woman who Named Things’
Accusing women of "sleeping their way to the top" is admitting that most men abuse their power for s*xual favors.
They don't wanna talk about that part though..
it doesn't suit their patriarchal narrative.
@_sorrengailll@chisoltd My son is graduating from Purdue today. His cap and gown rental is $83. RENTAL! It’s a racket. My other son graduated a couple years ago from a different university and at least got to keep it for that money.
@ShakeLS@Martina My son survived a school shooting . I would describe the look on his face afterwards as ‘horrified anguish’. It was shattering to see him like that. These people are a disgrace.
@mark_slapinski@FluteMagician They are disgraceful. My son survived a school shooting and I can assure you he was not smirking 30 minutes after it happened. Horrified anguish is the term I would use to describe his face. It was shattering to see him in such distress.
"We don’t need schools, libraries, and the government to be "run like a business." We need them be run like public services that advance the health and well being of all people."
@physicsgeek I saw the Challenger explode. I was in 8th grade. We watched it live and then had to take a writing placement test for 9th grade. No counseling, no discussion, just move on. It was devastating and horrific to watch.
Gay kids read thousands of books about straight
characters, yet they still grow up gay. But y'all are worried if your son, Billy, reads just one book where a penguin has two dads, he is going to wake up the next day and ask Brad to prom.

RUTHERFORD COUNTY library director LUANNE JAMES 🦸♀️ was just fired for refusing to move kids books into the adult section simply because the board doesn’t like what they’re about.
