Building PanelAlpha - the easiest way to deploy and manage modern projects | Podcast host @WebhostingToday | Founder of ModulesGarden, AdminBolt, KonradoAI
Product building has (almost) NO VALUE now... because anyone can build a product now.
Distribution is now more valuable than ever... but it is way harder than ever... because anyone can build a product now.
(is this some sort of a poem?)
@Cloudways is moving beyond @WordPress .
That is a pretty strong signal when one of the biggest names in managed WordPress hosting says its customers are already asking for something different.
@suhaib__zaheer , head of managed hosting at DigitalOcean and Cloudways, says most Cloudways customers still use WordPress, but the shift is clear. AI builders are producing more projects on Nodejs, Nextjs and other modern stacks, so Cloudways is branching out too. Node and Next are already being tested, and Copilot is expected to expand beyond WordPress as well.
📣 Hear where Cloudways is heading in the full conversation with Suhaib on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Podcasts and @WebhostingToday .
👉 Will AI make hosting invisible?
I had the pleasure of talking with @suhaib__zaheer , SVP & GM of Managed Hosting at @digitalocean and GM of @Cloudways, about future of the industry.
It is especially interesting because Cloudways became famous for managed WordPress hosting. Now both parts of that positioning are being challenged at the same time:
- AI builders are creating a new generation of projects outside WordPress
- AI is starting to take over much of the work that made hosting “managed” in the first place.
That raises a bigger question for Cloudways and managed hosting in general. If AI can monitor, diagnose, fix problems and operate infrastructure in the background, what are customers actually paying a premium for? and that's what I asked Suhaib directly :)
In this episode:
🔹What happens when AI does the managing
🔹Why hosters may be chasing the wrong AI opportunity
🔹Why Cloudways needs to think beyond WordPress
🔹Hosting without tickets, manual fixes or dashboards
🔹How AI agents may replace the traditional hosting interface
🔹... and MUCH more!

Here is my public declaration: turn PanelAlpha into the easiest way to host projects.
ETA: 6 months. Wish me luck 🫡
I’m just sick of trying to convince hosting providers and push products through them. It’s time to go direct to the users and see what happens.
Hosting should be as easy as building with AI, without forcing anyone to become a sysadmin.
That is exactly what we want to solve with @PanelAlpha Engine. It turns your own server into a self-hosted environment where your AI agent can deploy, manage and maintain projects for you, while keeping everything organized and under control.
And the best part? We have released it as an open source project! We want to build it together with the community and make PanelAlpha Engine a standard for running AI-built projects on your own infrastructure.
Feel free to give it a shot. Now available at github.
4 years into PanelAlpha, I think we may have built something much bigger than the original product.
A technology that could significantly change how people deploy and publish their projects online.

Almost 90% of SMBs already use AI. Sounds impressive... until you look at how they use it.
@bluehost recently ran an SMB study on how small businesses use AI and here are the most interesting insights:
👉 close to 90% of SMBs already use AI
👉 most still use it mainly as a chat interface, not agents or automated workflows
👉 fewer than 20% say they have high confidence using it
👉 cost was one of the SMALLEST barriers
👉 the bigger problems were: lack of knowledge, training and tools made for specific business needs
Most small businesses have very limited resources. In the US, around 82% have no employees at all! So saving time can make a real difference.
The companies saving 16+ hours per week with AI were also the ones where a real revenue impact started to show. That extra time was spent on customers, service and other work that helps the business grow.
We covered the study and its results in the latest podcast episode with Sachin Puri.
Available on @WebhostingToday , YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

👉 Is @bluehost still a hosting company?
In the latest podcast episode I asked Sachin Puri, CEO of Bluehost Group and Network Solutions Group, what exactly he is turning Bluehost into. His answer goes far beyond hosting: infrastructure stays important, but the company wants to become the platform SMBs use to actually run and grow their businesses. The AI is the next level of making technology easier for non-technical users.
In this episode we cover:
🔹Is traditional hosting still enough?
🔹Why Bluehost is pushing hard into AI
🔹Why VPS is becoming important again
🔹How AI could change the role of hosting
🔹What Bluehost and Network Solutions will become
🔹Why WordPress is still a major part of the plan
🔹Why Sachin thinks one day we will simply stop calling products "AI"

What if you could not only vibe code but also "vibe deploy" projects on your own server? One command to install, another command to connect your Claude or whatever you use. Staging, SSL, backups, firewall, logs all included by default.
Would you use it? Looking for feedback!
Still in progress, we aim to release it in September.
Many entrepreneurs wonder if automation software is a must-have since the very early stages of their business. But the logic is simple: the sooner you automate most of your ordering & provisioning processes, the faster you'll climb to the top! https://t.co/1QBPDJcDuE
