Amy Eskridge. 34 years old. A plasma physicist working on antigravity propulsion in Huntsville, Alabama.

On June 11, 2022, she was found dead in her home from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Officially ruled a suicide.

Her family insists she suffered from chronic pain and that her death was exactly what it looked like.

The amount of self-hate Americans have towards their own history is truly unreal.

They defeated slavery by fighting against their own family.
They shut Europe out of the western hemisphere so that nations wouldn't live under colonization forever.
They had the ability to stay out of world war 1 but they went and died to help Europeans.
They had the ultimate power in the nuclear bomb. They also had access to all of Europe's colonies that were in shambles. But instead they promoted freedom. They rebuilt Japan and Germany after defeating them in war. They stood down the Soviet Union, even as the world jeered them.
They sent soldiers to places like Vietnam and Afghanistan that died TRYING to create a better world (even if you disagree with those wars, the intentions were fairly good)
And they sent more missionaries to the world than maybe any other country in history. Translated more Bibles into indigenous languages than any other country in history. Ran bigger charities than any other country in history. Created more Christian resources than any other country in history.

Whether it was stopping the Dutch from reconquering Indonesia to the Berlin Airlift to giving Cuba its freedom in the Spanish-American war to saving China from the Japanese America has at least ATTEMPTED to do good with its power.

Yes yes, America has problems. People are imperfect. But goodness gracious does the world have a lot to be grateful for in America. And when we could have taken SO much from the world we have often chosen not to. Rome, Britain, Mongols, Assyrians, Soviets, Chinese, no other group has ever shown the restraint America has consistently shown with such vast power at its fingertips.

We didn't even get into the GIGANTIC technological advances, consumer advances, convenient lifestyle changes America has pioneered. From electricity to space to the light bulb to the smart phone to many cures in medicine and agriculture to the airplane the world has been enormously blessed by America.

Fukushima was hit by multiple 50 foot tidal waves from a 9.1 earthquake at sea. That's not a fucking nuclear accident. That's your nuclear plant being hit by the hammer of god.

And after that, you contained it. You took the hand fate dealt you and you played it with everything you had. You had workers volunteering to be heroes, to stay and fight to shut that thing down.

And you saved... everyone. Not a single clearly connected death. In the middle of a natural disaster that cost you fifteen thousand souls, your people fought this thing and won.

Chernobyl is something for Russians to be ashamed of, because that was their own screwup, and stupid communists can't do anything right.

Fukushima wasn't your screwup. Fukushima happened to you. And your men stopped it.

Fukushima is not your national shame.

It is one of your finest hours.

We have a guy at my firm. Let’s call him David. David is a senior manager, always the first to crack a joke, buys the team lunch on Fridays, and dresses impeccably. A true "stand-up guy" who seems to have his entire life figured out.

But nobody knew that for the past 8 months, David has been going home to a completely empty 1-bedroom apartment, sleeping on a single mattress on the floor. His colleagues just assume his family relocated abroad. The truth? Family court stripped him of everything.
He spent 12 years breaking his back to build a beautiful home for his wife and two daughters. When the marriage crashed, the court ordered him out to "maintain stability for the kids." He left with just a suitcase. Now, he pays the rent for that big house, plus their school fees, while struggling to feed himself.

But the money isn't even the worst part. It’s the crippling silence. David went from waking up to his daughters jumping on his bed every morning, to having to negotiate with his ex for a 5-minute WhatsApp video call. He was legally demoted to an "every other weekend" uncle.
Men are carrying mountains of grief and hiding it behind office banter and hanging out with the boys. David sits at the lounge with the guys after work, laughing and buying drinks.
