Is this 160 bln (Arab 🤫) from within KP's NFC share, or not?
Is it for the governor rule districts, or the emergency districts?
In what time frame is it?
Is the federal govt now bridging the Rs 50 bln deficit in the ex FATA budget?
Is the federal govt update KP's NFC share with it's census population?
Is it creating a permanent NFC share for ex FATA?
Is it going to pay any NHP arrears?
Is Shahbaz Sharif ever going to pay the Rs 10 bln he promised for the 2022 floods?
If you leave a 220 bln surplus, and then give a 160 bln package over 3-4 years, what does the math look like?
Has the federal govt been deducting money from KP's NFC share at source beyond the surplus already in place?
So many questions...
We are working on a full investigative piece that cross-checks the data, but PTI did not grant the Boya lease in 2016. In July 2016, two years before the May 2018 constitutional merger, North Waziristan was part of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). The provincial assembly had no jurisdiction there. Islamabad governed the agency directly through the federally appointed Governor and the FATA Secretariat, which is why the lease’s official file number is FS/MCC/NWA/ML-Copper/2013 ("FS" standing for FATA Secretariat).
Whenever lawmakers on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Standing Committee on Minerals pressed the bureaucracy for the accounts of the Boya copper mine in North Waziristan, the Secretary and Director General of Minerals gave the same answer: "Sir, we cannot do anything."
According to a parliamentary staffer who worked with the committee for two years, records show that while local miners get 50- to 500-acre parcels, the Frontier Works Organisation’s subsidiary, Degan Exploration Works, holds a 7,410-acre copper lease and a 101-square-kilometer exploration block in Boya.
Operating inside a tax-exempt export zone where it keeps half the profits, the company extracted 987,000 tons of copper ore between 2016 and 2024, sold $35 million in processed concentrate to Chinese buyers, and logged nearly $20 million in machinery imports and export turnover over the past year, yet paid only 169 million rupees into the provincial treasury out of roughly 1.25 billion rupees owed in statutory 5 percent royalties.
Meanwhile, the 4,000-plus small leases that federal ministers are now citing to smear the entire local mining sector as a PTI patronage racket were cleared through an online portal set up with the help of a Risalpur security agency in 2017, after a September 2024 NAB Prevention Committee (File No. 3-
2(5)/Misc/KP/NABHQ/2024) ordered then-DG Junaid Khan to clear a backlog of 7,000 pending applications for qualifying citizens, retired military officers, and members of all political parties.
Nobody on the committee denies the 16.94 billion rupees in departmental irregularities flagged by the Auditor General under PTI governments, which is why lawmakers across party lines ordered a full audit of every lease in the province on July 8, 2026. Instead, by imposing Governor’s Rule on October 11 ahead of next month's investment forum in Islamabad, the federal government acted at the behest of the military to bypass the assembly that blocked the SIFC-drafted minerals bill last year, using the real corruption of provincial politicians as cover to wipe out small local leaseholders and lock out the committee demanding the Boya accounts.
From a forensic accounting standpoint, the paper trail points to a single conclusion: the SIFC was built to capture the country's natural resources under the guise of legal reform, using statutory boards, tax-exempt zones, and emergency decrees to move billions in mineral wealth off the provincial books and into military-backed joint ventures.
The thing about working in predictive modeling is that you’re typically months ahead on global events, and years ahead when it comes to Pakistan.
All it takes is a slightly higher sensitivity in detecting and structuring those weak signals long before they become data or pattern.
i want to come to pakistan but these mfs have blocked the internet in kashmir for past 5 months and this is the only reason i cant come. more than 140 days i cant beleive honestly; feels like its IoK.
i will forever be team debit card. there’s no need for me to have access to money i don’t possess. some of us have addictive tendencies, others genuinely make poor financial decisions which banks exploit.
We are gonna get a do over election in KP with Fazlu and circus bear Animal Wali coming out against this emergency so that the planned rigging in the next election is more credible in their favor since they won’t be arrested for their utterance like PTI members are.
Aunty,
You're absolutely right about one thing: that the PTI has been in power for 13 years in KP. Besides that, here's a fact check with some context.
Structural gaps between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa long predate PTI rule.
The 1981 census literacy stood at 16.7% in NWFP versus 27.4% in Punjab; by the 1998 census it was 37.3% versus 47.4%.
Punjab’s larger population, canal-irrigated agriculture from the colonial period, along with it's larger industrial base, have produced higher baseline development for not just decades, but more if you were to include the pre-Partition period -- as Gazetted in two centuries of colonial rule.
Moreover, under the 7th NFC Award (in force since 2010), the divisible pool is allocated primarily by population (82% weight), giving Punjab ~51.74% and KP ~14.62% plus a 1% war-on-terror top-up; absolute transfers therefore favor Punjab regardless of provincial performance.
But you seem to brush over the fact that while you were getting glow ups in London and Jeddah, KP absorbed the principal costs of the post-2001 insurgency and successive military operations. SATP data record 5,883 terrorism-related fatalities in the province in 2009 alone (when you were still raising those lovely children in Mayfair). 2014's Operation Zarb-e-Azb, launched in North Waziristan -- where your father never once went as PM to visit troops -- displaced approximately 930,000 people.
Considering you were probably concentrating on your studies at King Edwards during this period, maybe a reminder is in order. The "threat" that you don't feel from India, rather from KP, thanks to the TTP and its network, grew out of the 1980s Afghan mujahideen infrastructure that Pakistan Army's then Chief, Zia-ul-Haq -- your father's personal mentor and sponsor -- had supported.
As for your father's last dance, well, violence fell sharply after the 2014–2017 operations (to roughly 100–200 annual fatalities by 2017–2019). But Daddy had nothing to do with military planning or ops -- rather, your father was flying out emissaries to talk to the TTP (but in a helicopter, not a Gulfstream, just FYI). It was the Raheels and the Tariq Khans and the Amir Riazes and the Asim Bajwas -- a lot considerably more talented and tolerant than the current one, that was handling the fighting.
Yes, violence did rise again after 2021. But it was after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, compounded by your Daddy's handpicked Chief, Qamar Bajwa, resettling the Taliban back in KP.
As for your allegations about inks to terrorism, here's the best part: senior PTI leaders were repeatedly assassinated by TTP during the peak years.
Look up these names, Auntry:
Israrullah Khan Gandapur: Serving as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Law Minister for PTI, he was killed on October 16, 2013.
Sardar Ikramullah Khan Gandapur: Following his brother's assassination, Ikramullah won the vacated provincial assembly seat (PK-67) in a by-election and later served as the provincial Agriculture Minister. On July 22, 2018, just three days before the general elections, he was as targeted by a suicide bomber. By the way, this was the same election in which neither you nor Daddy could participate because both of you were convicted for hiding away billions in the Panama Papers case.
Want more? Look up these PTI leaders, Aunty:
Malik Tariq Awan, Peshawari PTI leader -- Killed in 2022 in Peshawar.
Atif Munsif Khan, Abbottabad Tehsil Mayor -- Killed in 2023 along with nine others in an ambush on his vehicle.
Rehan Zaib Khan, PTI Youth Leader -- Killed in broad daylight in 2024 while campaigning for NA-8 in Bajaur for the General Elections that you and Daddy and Chachoo stole.
Shah Khalid, Swabi PTI leader -- gunned down in Swabi just weeks before the stolen 2024 general elections.
Also in the lead up to those elections -- Malik Sameen Khan, North Waziristani PTI leader and elder, targeted and killed by unidentified gunmen in North Watziristan.
Look up these names. And think again about what you accuse the PTI of.
As for the “13 years of incompetence” framing, you omit federal responsibility for external and internal security, the costs of the 2018 FATA merger, and the fact that the steepest decline in KP violence coincided with early PTI provincial government plus large-scale military action.
Yes, Aunty: Terrorism actually dipped under Imran Khan's government. At least till your "Saada Chief" Bajwa didn't let the wolves back in post the US-pullout.
As for recent attack numbers that you love to cite, (PIPS: 111 in 2021 rising to 413 in 2025), remember that you track the post-2021 resurgence rather than a simple linear record of provincial governance.
If you've made it this far Aunty, here's the simplest part.
The KP's hard times didn't start under Imran.
But I can guarantee that they will not improve under you or your Daddy's illegal administration.
When terrorists slaughter KP’s police every day, the people stand beside them. In Dir, when the state failed to rescue its own men, locals took up guns. Now, using that same police to crush political dissent is a betrayal of the people. Do not turn the protectors of KP
The most dishonest takes on the imposition of emergency here would start off by normalizing the emergency: “Now that an emergency has been imposed,” and then adding their honest advice on how “it is an opportunity to fix…” and then concluding with a sense of urgency: “It is time to deliver.”
Such takes address everything except the elephant in the room, and they are not just naive takes. They serve to normalize tyranny by giving it an intellectul cover.
