@WolfieChristl@trustelevate Funny that this article has a hard to navigate dark pattern style cookie and tracking consent interface...pot kettle black.
"iPhone apps including Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok ... are skirting Apple’s privacy rules to collect user data through notifications ... Users sometimes close apps to stop them from collecting data in the background, but this technique gets around that"

The Department of Health in England, working so hard to deliver their commitment to transparency, published the Palantir contract the last working day before Xmas. It looks like this:

Law enforcement has sneakily gotten around obtaining warrants for getting access to people’s locations. Instead they’re buying them off shady data brokers that feed on our personal data from our pockets.

⚠ After five years of litigation by noyb, Meta finally announced that it will ask users for consent before showing them behavioral ads.
We will keep a close eye on whether Meta will actually apply all the consent requirements of the GDPR.

"#Amazon Clinic requires patients to sign a release giving the company “complete” access to their #health info"
"By signing, customers authorize Amazon to share their data, and acknowledge that it’s not protected by HIPAA, the federal health #privacy law"

This could have been an exemplar of interoperability, instead NHS England chose to demonstrate a stitchup.
And HSJ also reported today that NHS England wants copies of all GP data to do with whatever it wishes:

This is just aweful, and worse, is likely the tip of the confidentiality breach iceberg for these vulnerable users, coz if the policies are this bad how bad is the security & privacy rights implenentation? @richardgomer
After reviewing 32 mental health apps’ privacy policies for over 255 hours the team has found:
✅ 8 of the apps we reviewed last year have improved
❌ 10 have gotten worse
👎 And a total of 20 have received our #PrivacyNotIncluded label.

A nugget from @SamuelMSmith today:
"Many claims made for blockchain don't require blockchain, just key management. [People] assume blockchains are secure ways to prove things. They are not. They are no more secure than the key management of the user that put data on them."
Sounds good, but when we went to NHS Innovates and then Scottish procurement, we were told we needed medical device status before we could do anything....except we are not a digital device. So much confused regulation around digital systems for healthtech. #roadblock
"Open"AI
💰Raises $1bn in seed capital—sorry, "donations".
💻Releases GPT-2 open source.
💰Goes for-profit.
💰Gets $1bn from Microsoft.
💻Releases GPT-3 with limited info.
💰Gets another ~$10bn off Microsoft.
💻Completely black-boxes GPT-4.
That is some serious audacity.
Facebook's new opt-out form is very hard to find.
After a lot of digging and several preliminary clicks, I ended up here.
I'm now going to live-tweet the process of objecting to Meta's ad-targeting.
This is pretty niche stuff. So if you're interested, I like you.

@RobertJBateman LOL - keep it simple - followed by "conduct an in depth independent legal analysis". So what you are saying is that no business should use Google or Microsoft?
What is it with tech "care" companies that they cannot understand the word CONFIDENTIAL? yet another "inadvertent" (really? - no one noticed the financial income from the data sales for 6 years?) set of health data via ad trackers https://t.co/tRolGPnKUi

Looking forward to the panel session I am on at Cyber Growth & Innovation Forum, discussing Cyber Assurance. Question is, assurance for who? Coz I as a consumer get 1 mention in the Cybersecurity Technology Efficacy report we are asked to talk to...
I will be speaking on the panel for Cyber Assurance on Monday 27th at https://t.co/vGPYkRx1CJ - its a great chance to influence UK Gov policy makers who will be there. Come along and lets drive towards a safer, more consumer centred digital ecosystem @techSPARKuk
@RTWeRNotWaiting we are about to release the first version of our platform for Patient-centred Managed Self Care for those with long term conditions who want to have a single place in which all their care givers can engage around them - we are looking for trials and testers ...
