State Del. Nino Mangione was selected Saturday by the Baltimore County Republican Central Committee to fill the vacant District 3 seat on the Baltimore County Council, succeeding longtime Republican Councilman Wade Kach, who resigned earlier this month because of health issues.

Mangione, a MAGA Republican, emerged from a field of seven candidates seeking the appointment. The committee held a public hearing Saturday at the Holiday Inn Timonium before voting on a nominee to complete the remainder of Kach’s term, which expires in December.
