anyone calculate the way the tax break would diminish tips for servers who are desperate for December income. Pls save me the pre tax tip argument, everyone tips after tax so until they don’t - it’s servers who are getting RINSED.
@markhealy22@nytimes I got the Sunday Times delivered again, it satiates all week. This morning flipping the style pages I found your snack of a story. I really loved it and laughed out loud many times and appreciated your really thoughtful reflections. Thank you. It’s great. 🥂
@acehotel I am begging you to help me get a refund or a credit for my stay at the ACE in Toronto. It’s my birthday, I am incredibly sick, I have a doctors note advising against travel but they won’t do ANYTHING. Please intervene!! #toronto#acehotel#TIFF24#hospitality
Maybe the @TorontoStar and @peterhowellfilm should not be promoting a film like 40 Acres who after filming skips town and leaves Northern Ontario workers and suppliers with unpaid invoices and wages.

A really wild thing is happening in Utah right now. Our state Constitution allows citizens, with incredible effort, to occasionally put a Measure on the ballot to vote in a law. In recent years, the majority of voters in our state have voted to legalize medical marijuana use,
Oh goodness, a hit tweet as they say, and I've nothing to sell, except the idea that good things happen when we leave the car at home. Take the bus 🚌, hop on a bike 🚲 or go for a stroll 🚶. Our cities and our arteries will be the better for it.

A recent gem which is a practical guide to organising in both labour and social movements. Important distinction between 'mobilisation' which is fleeting, and 'organising' which is the key to genuine power.
WHOA 😳
If there was ever a more telling clip about @adamzivo’s views on the toxic drug crisis I haven’t seen it.
Listen to his response when Mo Amir asks him if the fear of police interaction causes people to use drugs alone, increasing the risk of dying from toxic illicit drugs.
I HEAR NO HINT OF CONCERN FOR THOUSANDS OF CANADIANS WHO ARE DYING.
At 0:54 seconds he says casually:
“Like SURE. Some people who use alone, like that’s a bit more dangerous … uh, I think you have to balance that against the potential public harms of decriminalization.”
A BIT more dangerous Adam?
2,546 British Columbians died from toxic unregulated drugs last year. It’s the number one cause of death in BC. Using alone is the highest risk factor.
But you think THAT risk has to be balanced against POTENTIAL public harms? Harms that have not been realized?
I’m stunned. How can anyone think an extremely high risk of death should be balanced against imagined fears that have not materialized??? 🤦🏻♂️
And this, apparently, is a leading conservative voice on drug policy in Canada.

Last night, students and workers protesting peacefully at UCLA for justice in Palestine were physically attacked by a group of 100+ counter protesters. UC’s failure to protect students and workers is an abdication of its responsibility. UAW 4811 members are mobilizing in response
@SaraPoyzer @EquityUK@bbcarts AI voices are awful. They are making me switch off from videos the minute I hear one.
Grim state or affairs for voiceover artists. No one asked for more AI voices.
Went on @democracynow to beg people to see immigrant workers—like our fallen brothers who were working on the Key Bridge—as human beings. We are not your enemy.
I'm sorry I can't respond to everyone's messages rn. Very tired & heart is very frayed. But we'll keep reporting ❤️✊🏽
@TheLawofWork Hi David, are there laws that prevent or make picketing non union job sites illegal in Ontario? If union members target a site that is not already signatory to an agreement is it a protected way of organizing the job site?
NEW: Conservative MP helped draft text of a conspiratorial United Nations petition, author of petition says.
The man behind a petition sponsored by Leslyn Lewis believes the UN wants to enslave humanity and turn humans into a different species.

How is any of this “for the people”? A secret 95-year deal giving an Austrian company private use of Ontario Place’s waterfront. Moving the Science Centre with no credible business case. Given the Greenbelt scandal, the Ford government hasn’t earned the benefit of the doubt.
Another emergency shift. I am beyond furious. Some people are waiting over 24 hours to be seen. Patients have been in the ER for over a week waiting for beds. We are a rich nation. There is no excuse for this. Provinces: Stop cutting health care so you can brag about tax cuts
TVO employees who work on The Agenda, TVO kids and other educational programming have been on strike for 36 days, fighting for fair wages and basic job security. I can only imagine how stressful and difficult it’s been on them. They need and deserve our support. They have mine.
