@sairarahman@fintechjunkie@matt_levine Maturity hedging is quibbling at the edges of the core truth. Banks’ fundamental business model is duration mismatch enabled by the federal reserve’s positive yield curve. Arbitrage theory and practice dictate that transformation nets to zero if done simultaneously.
@ethereumJoseph@amandacassatt@BillHughesDC write-up of money crypto versus tech crypto is excellent. One issue, TradFi has DeFi elements to it - think Bilateral OTC Derivatives in the trillions. Regulators could argue this point to rationalize regulating CeFi and DeFi as one.
@SBF_FTX You're right. Absolute privacy is unattainable in a world that values civilization. A lot of work has gone into improving our systems of government and economy. We should leverage that knowledge base for web3. Pushing the underground economy to the surface is critical.
@reddy_kp@Jason Like everything else, social media has accelerated the velocity of reinforcing a narrative. The narrative of course becomes self fulfilling in this context (inflation). Everyone is a Trader/economist now so markets reflect a lead time on reality that exceeds past cycles.
@mwseibel Exactly. It is embarrassing how much VC money is supporting additional debt options - which just magnifies underlying problems - rather than actually solving the problem.
@km Person has a problem and ends up starting a company to address it. This seems the only reasonable path. The reverse is vanity. Having said that, I wonder how many pivots are pursuing a new solution versus pursuing a new problem and what that means about 1st and 2nd volitions.
I guess people should have the right to drive at any speed, send kids to work in factories, ignore taxes, and carry guns on to airplanes and into schools. How can a public official advocate against the public good? #dementeddesantis
@Beastlyorion @el33th4xor Bonds, real estate, and equity prices manifest fiat policy. Seems counter to your stated goal. There’s an underlying philosophical and economic question of the role of currency that will answer this question.
@EllisCarr2@capitalimpact Hopefully there is an expectation that these Developers invest in underinvested communities and hire builders and suppliers from underrepresented groups. Capital absorption at its finest. Congrats!
@AlecStapp Some Culprits: Planning and permitting, engineering complexity, and supply chain complexity. It’s not lost upon the industry and there are a lot of people working on various aspects.
Downside of Miami hype, if you party with 4,000 new friends in a club until 5am, you're likely to come home with an old-school disease. Remember the "cold"? Ok, so it is blue or yellow for daytime? Whatever...
@harryhurst Unless of course they are SaaS businesses selling very steady recurring revenue through a marketplace (that will go unnamed). To the moon Alice, to the moon!
