After four surgeries to remove 7 metallic pellets from his neck and face and near his eye, Irshad, the son of a farmer from Jabalpur, speaks quietly but firmly and he speaks without a trace of bitterness or anger. There are dozens of metal bits still embedded in his body.

The police had at first denied using pellet guns - they are normally deployed in conflict zones like Kashmir and have been contentious there too.
