@Brady_H Flat ground normal walking probably doesn’t move the needle for an endurance athlete, but get on a treadmill, crack the incline to 15% and walk at 3.8-4 mph without holding on for 30-45 mins, and I promise you that you will see the HR climb
@knowledgeiswatt@jem_arnold Anyone doing only 3 days a week of Z2 and thinking they are getting more fit is sadly mistaken. It’s better than nothing, but yes the point is Z2 and sub threshold training allows you to accumulate more volume with reduced injury risk.
@CitiusMag Carbon fiber stroller. Back in the old days the strollers were steel and heavy. (Sarcasm)
I was in this race. He flew past everyone at about 150 meters and never looked back.
Was waiting for someone to ask if the baby should have worn a helmet going at that speed.
@Brady_H@ckwars How many potentially good runners gave up as a kid bc a coach didn’t know what they were doing and the kid never came close to potential? Never thought they could possibly run in college? How many MS/HS kids aren’t aware that the biggest factor for them is ^ vol. even during seas
@ManOnThePen@DrAlexTatem@hubermanlab So someone who is cardiovascularly fit (17 flat 5k and sub 5 min mile), but for some reason has elevated Tri, blood sugar, cholesterol would you suggest sema over the others? Not looking to lose weight
@ManOnThePen@DrAlexTatem@hubermanlab So weird that we always hear if you let Tri, blood sugar, cholesterol, weight, and BP that you’ll get better CV data. Except that’s clearly not the case.
@ManOnThePen@DrAlexTatem@hubermanlab I get that, but Reta has a glp1 in it. It reduces Tri, cholesterol, LDL, blood sugar, and body weight more than the others, but the MACE effect is not there.
@DrAlexTatem@ManOnThePen@hubermanlab When I stopped Reta, I noticed my RHR dropped about 5 bpm, and my HRV bounced up some as well. Also the TRIUMPH 3 data showed no statistically sig CV benefits for Reta in 5 pt or 3 pt MACE. Any ideas why RETA not showing the same CV benefits?
@stevemagness Define work? Running 20 mpw easy compared to not running “works” if work means get faster. However, running 20 mpw compared to 40 mpw with adequate threshold and rest does not “work” if work means being faster than the 40 mpw team. It doesn’t matter how much you buy in
@smerconish Yeah, the world only sees what the media reports. And the media has been trying to destroy America’s image for almost 2 decades now. Worse is that many Americans now feel less proud of America as a result of the media’s propaganda. Glad foreign tourists are seeing through it.
@Alan_Couzens 70% of HR max for a 45 yr old runner who still runs sub 5 min mile is 124. That would be walking on an incline instead of running for me.
@Brady_H I’ve listened to a couple podcasts with Marius Bakken lately. Curious if walking on incline could illicit a big enough load to reach 2 mmol lactate? And if that would be a way to get a dbl threshold in, by doing the incline walk in the morning then something more diff later
@stevemagness I find it ironic that many coaches will tell kids there are no shortcuts to success, yet many of the same coaches will recruit foreign and older runners to help them win championships.
