People in Gaza have been reviving an old tradition in which some families exchange their kids, so that in case some get bombed, the others would live. My family is spread out over three houses in three different locations as if they're trying to avert a massacre.
I tell myself nothing Israelis do will shock me but then I check the news. In the past hours they killed a prominent journalist in Gaza, didn’t allow humanitarian aid into the strip, killed a 16yo in the West Bank, targeted medics with bullets, & sang about freedom in Eurovision.
This is astonishing. Not a word about the 41 Palestinian children killed by Israel bombing, or the 22,000 IDPs inside Gaza, or the wonton destruction of civilian infrastructure. Just blanket support for Israel’s continued bombing of civilians.
Absolutely astonishing.
This is Mohammad, a 12-year-old Palestinian kid who was killed live on TV in his father's arms.
I assumed they would cease fire as soon as they saw a child. I couldn't believe my eyes when he was shot.
I saw it on TV as it happened when I was 12, too: https://t.co/sHucFRSnhY
My speakers stopped working after the lyrics “give me a sign, I wanna believe”. Is this the universe’s way of telling me my voice sucks and I need to shut up?
