Decades of national and EU agricultural and commercial policies have led to an unsustainable agricultural model, prioritizing profit over sustainability. Farmers face immense pressure to increase yield at all costs, while the true cost of food production remains hidden.
Farmers are not just stewards of the land; they are providers of our most important common good: food. Transitioning to agroecological, local food systems benefits both farmers and the environment. It's time to prioritize viability, and well-being.
We are calling for a common vision for the future of EU food systems, rooted in ecological knowledge and innovation. The cost of inaction is simply too high for current and future generations.
We must align agricultural policies with sustainability goals and the EU Green Deal, and involve all food system actors in this transition.
