"To me it's unfathomable"
Former police officer and Labour MP, Jonathan Hinder, criticises the actions of police in the murder of Henry Nowak by Vickrum Digwa: "the use of handcuffs is just impossible to explain".

Years of underfunding from successive Tory governments left families languishing in temporary accommodation, and children with no security.
Labour won’t let that continue to happen.

CEME, for the second consecutive year, has been recognised in the Sunday Times as one of the best places to work! They deserve this recognition for their dedication to investing in their people and our area @CEME

⏰ Zero-hour and short-hour contracts make it impossible for many working people to build a stable life. Workers can't be sure what they'll earn, making it harder to plan childcare, pay bills and build a secure life for their families.
THE HOURS YOU ACTUALLY WORK BELONG IN YOUR CONTRACT 3/4
✊ Everyone should have the right to a contract that reflects the hours they regularly work.
Labour’s manifesto promised this right for all workers – and that’s what working people expect Labour to deliver.
But employers have been lobbying hard to limit it to people on low-hours contracts, and unfortunately the Government is proposing to go along with this. https://t.co/uRdzFUhz7P 2/4
🚨 The Government's consultation on zero-hour and short-hour contracts is now open.
What happens next will determine whether the rights in the Employment Rights Act deliver on Labour’s promise at the general election. 1/4
I lived in Bedworth throughout my childhood.
It is eternally sad to me that a place so ravished by Thatcherism is now so heavily represented by its sons and daughters in Reform UK.
Labour exists for places like Crewe and like Bedworth. It must reclaim that founding purpose.
Public utilities should not be run to generate profit while families pay more and infrastructure is neglected.
As the cost of living crisis continues, the case for bringing essential services back into public ownership is clearer than ever.
When a bus driver was feeling ill because of the heat, this passenger stepped in to help.
We need a maximum working temperature to protect workers.

It was great to visit Uni of Liverpool with @MetroMayorSteve to see how innovation is driving jobs and growth. Through the Local Innovation Partnership Fund we are empowering regional leaders, and ensuring the decisions which benefit local communities are made on their doorstep.
This is such an important change.
I've lost count of the number of times I've been in health care settings where I or someone I'm with has had to repeat things they've told another health care professional.
No more with Labour's Single Patient Record 🌹
Child exploitation must never be ignored, hidden, or dismissed.
When I was a Nottinghamshire County councillor, I repeatedly asked where child exploitation was taking place, who it was affecting, and how widespread it was. Those questions were met with resistance instead of transparency.
My contribution to yesterday's debate on a petition relating to the collection and publication of child sexual offender data 👇
Here's the clip of the whole dreary debate following the govt statement about the @EHRC Code on 1st June.
Disappointing for us @UKLabour supporters to see 15 Lab MPs ask ill-informed & fear mongering questions, only leavened by @tracygilbert72's breath of fresh air.
However, those 15 do NOT speak for the majority of the PLP, Lab members or voters.
Sadly, our party's leadership @10DowningStreet has failed to require its MPs & officials to grasp the party's pivot against self-ID in 2023 or to understand the provisions in the Equality Act.
This must change if we are to safeguard women & avoid losing even more public support.
