Robinhood now makes more transaction revenue from prediction markets than from either stock or crypto trading... Prediction market take rates are massive, 170x higher than stocks per $1 traded
For every $1,000 traded, Robinhood generates roughly:
Stocks: $0.13
Options: $1.47
Crypto: $2.50
Prediction markets: $23.00
Prediction markets currently monetize about 16× better than options, 9× better than crypto, and 170× better than stocks.
These are assumptions for Options and Prediction markets, but I think they are conservative.
Options assumes an average premium of $300 per contract. Prediction markets assume an average trading price of 50¢ per contract.
@mikulaja No lie i had this exact discussion 3x in the past week. Real question is: how do you disrupt them... my thought is cloning the value prop isn't the right way to go. Need a new angle that creates a network effect that disrupts their monopoly.
@pitdesi@danielcberk Feels like the person who does this will be coming at it from a different angle than cloning LI. Definitely feels like everyone wants to make meaningful connections in the business world and today they don’t feel genuine on LI. Plus most of the posts are AI slop now.
@defyneric Been the same story for the last 20 years… next you will tell me they just figured out they need a direct deposit/recurring deposit strategy.
@danprimack I’m assuming most people will wait another few days for the new year before selling. So my guess is we really see what happens w the lock up the first week of Jan.
@DustinGouker@AlexH_Johnson@regulatorynerd IMO, from discussions with them, gambling and other similar types was its own thing. We explored it pretty deeply and i said we didnt want "shady shit" and while its hurts the economics as those sites pay a ton it wasnt worth my soul
@AlexH_Johnson@DustinGouker IMO that's the fault of the website that is approving ROKT to show those types of offers. I have spoken with ROKT and they give you control over what offers are shown to you users. So honestly its not a Kalshi issue, its whoever runs that youth sports website thats to blame.
@pitdesi I mean, it’s still hilarious that even though they couldn’t link the lettuce to the outbreak. So many people complained to the CDC about diarrhea from Taco Bell that they still thought it came from there.
@heysamir_@Replit My pleasure. Here is what I have been building: https://t.co/t84VGIZyKr
Been in Fintech BD/Corp dev since being employee #11 at one of the original neobanks way back in 2002. My role requires that I spend a lot of time searching for relevant news, this automates a lot of it.
@heysamir_@Replit Yep. I have all my vibe coding ideas on Replit, but the real projects I'm working on get moved to Claude. I honestly couldnt imagine trying to build anything complex on replit
@zachperret@NikMilanovic@Klarna Agreed. Same reason WEX, Block and others do it. You can also issue checking accounts via NOW accounts that operate just like DDAs. We did it at Higher One back in the early 2000s.
@shamir_k@Delta Reserve card. Free first class companion ticket makes it pay for its self. Happy to send you a referral link as they are running miles promo right now.
Computer now connects with Plaid to link bank accounts, credit cards, and loans.
