I am a retired oil industry engineer, and worked in the field servicing oil wells. Oil wells do not "explode" when shut in. They suffer damage to their production capacity, due to sedimentation of the crude oil, sanding up, or waxy deposits coming out of solution at the upper reaches of the well, as it cools due to lack of flow. Such damage necessitate a "work over" which takes from weeks to months per well, depending on the damage. It will happen to the wells on the Saudi/UAE/Kuwait side too.. Capacity is being lost on both sides, and will take many months to restore, once the war is over.
