Last night, Israeli settler gangs stole a goalpost from a football field designated for Palestinian children in the village of Umm al-Khair south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.
OK, one more comment then I'm really done. There's a lot of talk about the "voluntary intoxication loophole" in the law that prevents a finding of non-consent based on intoxication absent physical incapacitation or involuntary ingestion of intoxicants.
This claim is getting tiresome, so I'd like to put it for rest. New York's current law, as written, is actually the only way for the system to operate logically. I'll show that by asking a series of questions to those who want to "close the voluntary intoxication loophole."
1) if physical incapacitation isn't the standard for lack of consent, what is?
2) is it "drunk?" "too drunk to consent"? how do we define those terms?
3) How is the alleged perpetrator supposed to know, subjectively, how drunk the alleged victim is? A person can be quite drunk and/or high and appear relatively sober and state that they are consenting (as actually happened here).
4) what if both parties (or, as in the Cornell case, multiple parties) are intoxicated? are they all raping each other? Should prosecutors seek indictments against all of them?
5) are we prepared for a system in which anyone who has consumed any alcohol can make a rape allegation?
Have the "loophole" people thought this through?
Because we're now looking at a world where anytime one party has a drink (or the number of drinks needed to constitute whatever definition of rape we end up with in answer to questions (2) and (3)) and is angry at their sexual partner, regretful, or jealous, s/he can make a rape allegation and presumably get their current former sexual partner behind bars.
Looking forward to the answers from the "hang the Cornell 7" people.

It has been a full year since Israeli soldiers killed 22 Palestinians, including journalists and rescue workers, in a double strike on a hospital in Gaza. No one has been held accountable. https://t.co/LUIWRO6Hlq
Israel has said that paper kites flown by Palestinian children will be treated as weapons of war.
Read that again.
This is the reality of genocide: the total destruction of innocence, freedom and joy.
End all military cooperation with Israel, now.
Israeli settlers, brandishing American made M4s, detained me & other Americans on my trip to Palestine.
When the IDF arrived, they sided with the settlers & continued our detention.
They made a huge mistake.
You will be hearing more soon. https://t.co/rZw8bRAn64
Israel just killed Esperanza in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, South Lebanon.
She wasn’t a combatant.
She was a school principal.
Israel dropped a bomb on her vehicle, murdering her, her husband, and her housemaid instantly.
Palestinian pediatrician, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, has spent 18 months in Israeli prisons without trial or charge. His lawyer reports his life is in immediate danger, following torture and poor treatment in prison.
He must be released immediately.

🚨We are deeply alarmed by the reports that there is an imminent threat to Dr. #HussamAbuSafiya’s life as a result of torture and other ill treatment he has been suffering while in Israeli custody. Israeli authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Abu Safiya. Pending his release, we call on the Israeli Prison service to ensure he is fully protected from abuse, granted urgent adequate medical care and allowed immediate visitation by independent monitors.

Israeli soldiers are reportedly torturing Dr Abu Safya --a pediatrician, for God's sake!
Without strong pressure on Israel, these may could be his last hours.

The Independent Int'l Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory presents new report to the UN Human Rights Council.
"The evidence shows that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted & killed by the Israeli security forces."

My family and I are exposed to all sorts of threats, restrictions and hateful rethoric.
Yet we would say and do everything we have said and done against the genocide, its ideologues and profiteers, again and again.
Forever proud to stand on the side of Justice.
Democrats should make 2 key points.
1) The illegal war in Iran has been a blunder & we are worse off than before it started.
2) There’s no good way out of a bad war. We should reject the talking points of those who cheered it on & want to drag us back into it. When you're in a hole, stop digging.
Very revealing. Republican senators who were AWOL regarding their constitutional duties around STARTING the war against Iran all of a sudden demand that Congress play a role in STOPPING the war. A whole lot of warmongering going on.
Everyone understandably gets a bit nervous when an agent of Israel starts threatening -- I mean, "predicting" -- a major mass casualty terrorist attack on American soil just days after the American President announces a deal that enrages all of Israel.
Israel loyalists picked a bad day to feign outrage over Tucker Carlson's observation that key Israeli officials speak and think like pure Nazis, if not worse.
Just hours later, Israeli National Security Minister Ben-Gvir posted this: text that makes Mein Kampf look bashful:
