Why am I not so excited about the new iPhone?
Because it has been excellent since iP 11, it's already unbelievably fast, the battery life is robust, the cameras are decent, and the displays are top-notch.
What they can do significantly better? Cameras? USB-C? Thinner bezels? Colours? How it can change the experience? Good question.
I believe the dramatic change can be in the software space.
Now we have p3 120 hz screens and essential apps like Google Maps, which ignores navigation and any rules of the OS and works like 20 fps on any device. We also can see modern third-party software significantly lower quality than before.
In the a/b tests hell and multiplatform frameworks they ignore accessibility and barely utilise all good features of the new iPhones.
How many apps use the dynamic island, dark theme, 120 GHz, OS navigation rules, dynamic fonts, physics-based animations, and p3 colour gamut?
I love to see more developers like Not Boring, Tapbots or Halide which care.
I love to see Apple have stronger restrictions for poor quality software which we are forced to use every day.
I am not exited about new iPhone, because all these food delivery, taxi, gas payment, banking, messaging, maps, everyday apps just don't care and dont provide better experience on the new iPhone.
@novikoff I dont get why Clock app in general is just in DarkMode not reflecting system settings. Those usability issues mostly came up from that and some confusing concepts like redundancy with settings in Health app.
Mine on iOS17 looks like this. It’s not obvious that is interactive
I’ve said this when Dynamic Island shipped: the next “skeuomorphism” in UI isn’t silly retro shadows & gradients but fluid, dynamic—almost liquid—and responsive animations and interactions.
An excellent evolution. Visual design truly coupled with how UI elements feel and work.
Timeless advice
After an insult in 1997, Steve Jobs replies:
"You have to start with the customer experience and work your way backwards to the technology"
And more importantly
"You can not start with the technology and try to figure out where you going to try to sell it"

Parkovaci asistent vyjimecne taky nenaskoci. Spolehlivost pripojeni CarPlay taky neni 100%… obcas je potreba restart.
@michalmalewicz FigJam / Miro / Mural are well established tools with a lot of useful features and integrations. It’s not going to be faded just like that by Apple. I bet Adobe rather push theirs teams to roll FigJam more into theirs corporate clients contracts rather than kill it.
@nikolasklein@figma I am just wondering why not use the Pages for this type of feature. I used to have app section organized as Pages in Sketch where you can connect screens between. It help maintain complex files more organized.
@xadros4 Dobrý den, s eSIM pro Apple Watch počítáme, ale zatím nemám k dispozici víc informací k tomu, kdy bude tahle funkce v naší sít dostupná. Martin
I recently published my first project to the @figma Community. While I was experimenting with prototyping by recreating an animated #DynamicIsland in Figma I ended up with a bunch of the #iOS16 Components so I put those together in LockScreen UI Kit. https://t.co/V5AkUn2xUP
React Native is a managers dream. Build once, run everywhere. But in practice it’s not that simple and it makes for a much worse product experience. Just build native.
Apple updated theirs Human Interface Guidelines. I like the attention to detail. They are having there DarkMode version of those guidelines with more suitable images for it. #AppleDesign#uidesign

Apple finally did something with the Lock Screen. I like the design approach to take that Customization UI from Apple Watch⌚️as the direction. With that Live Activities widget seems to be more convenient for navigation, Uber, food ordering and more.
