@gplama Pricing out a market like NZ is par for many multinationals, we’re just not big enough to matter. Cutting their nose off in AUS is an odd choice.
@Alan_Couzens And that took either never taking a break from running during middle age or a great systems approach to keeping the niggles at bay. I appreciate that almost more than the work!
@feelthebyrn1@Alan_Couzens@inaki_delaparra One thought on nervous system down regulation was to bring in breath-work with something like HRV4biofeedback (app) until you find the sweet spot for how long it takes you to come down.
I'm super hesitant to write about supplements, but a broccoli shot called Nomio has been getting lots of buzz. The main claim is that it reduces lactate levels, but the underlying science (preliminary though it is) is more nuanced... and interesting. https://t.co/3pfdnR6oKa
@brady_h Probably good not to check in on ye olde health markers after my unimpressive weekend warrior garbage either. Pretty sure it doesn’t need to be a marathon. Thankfully the body has some resilience.
@Alan_Couzens Thanks so much for this, Alan. Wasn’t too long ago I was visiting the waybackmachine to scrape the charts from your old blog. Great post!
@brady_h I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. I watched people take their hands off the bars to eat a full powerbar seconds after the start of a race. I've seen $7000 plastic bikes explode in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time...
@brady_h On the one hand, everyone is a Cat 4 if they show up to enough races. On the other hand, it's a right of passage to see some of the most insane riding you will ever experience as a freshly licensed USAC Cat 5. Don't let Peloton rob you of that.
There will always be competing interests in a sporting team, but certainly a moratorium can be placed around key events. If your riders are struggling with their role, the physical and mental stress of a race is just going to amplify that. Sort it out before the big day?
It feels like the same narrative plays out at each grand tour. Riders push themselves in training, they come to a big race with performance and media pressure, and then there's an implosion. Seems teams might work out that results ride on eliminating stressors.
@feelthebyrn1 “He who is only an athlete is too crude, too vulgar, too much a savage. He who is a scholar only is too soft, to effeminate. The ideal citizen is the scholar athlete, the man of thought and the man of action.“ Also? Get yourself a nickname as hard as “Plato.”
@feelthebyrn1 "More 5000kj rides." ☠️ Strain (and goals?) scaling non-linearly? Seems like you tolerated your training camps well, but let's see how much you can eat next season. 😉
