Eritrea warned the TPLF about dividing Ethiopia along ethnic lines. It helped the outfit rule the vast country as a small minority from a remote corner but in time it put them in a dangerous position. Other groups became powerful enough to challenge and defeat minority rule.
@getachew_zeki This is a Facebook post of a private individual who lives in Sweden. Presenting his personal views as Eritrea's policy is misleading and wrong.
No wonder the Italians built this sculpture of Mussolini in Tigray. https://t.co/KMwO2vsevz They made them feel at home. Before Italy conquered Ethiopia, thousands of Tigrayans were already migrating to Eritrea each year and enlisting in the colonial army.
Sculpture of Mussolini in Adwa, Ethiopia, from the Second Italo-Ethiopian War. This photo was published on the front page of the Italian newspaper L'Illustrazione Italiana, which attributed the sculpture to anonymous ‘soldier-artists’ (soldati-artisti).
Tigrayans affirm their loyalty to fascist Italy with a religious ceremony at the Axum cathedral. Tigray's bishops prostrate before general Graziani, presenting him with a parchment and a cross. Newsreel from 1937: https://t.co/yJlvguZYZb
Ethiopia's then dictator, Meles Zenawi, leader of the TPLF, made it clear his regime was targeting people for their national origin: "If we say 'Go, because we don't like the color of your eyes,' they have to leave." These are the TPLF's true colors: tribalism and hate.
Eritrea deported personnel and collaborators of a brutal foreign occupying regime. Ethiopia had half of its forces in Eritrea. Ethiopia (under the TPLF) deported regular people for their Eritrean origins, even if they (only) had Ethiopian nationality. There is no equivalence.
Eritreans were the only ones who did sympathize recalling their own forced expropriation and expulsion from Ethiopia. Meanwhile, you were calling Eritreans "invaders" and hoping for a repeat of those experiences. https://t.co/TdtE9EPVXy You can keep your insincere condemnation.
@martinplaut Not one country in the Horn of Africa or across the Red Sea accuses Eritrea of being a spoiler, so who is "everyone"? The rebels in northern Ethiopia admit to starting the war in that region. They must be held accountable. Stop blaming others. https://t.co/uM0gLd6GyQ
For a country they disparage so much, they sure copy a lot of Eritrean music and imagery, substituting the name and the flag of their little Ethiopian region for Eritrea's.
Lacking a sense of self, culture, identity, creativity, insecure, green with envy can result in you copying songs with lyrics that don’t fit your reality.#Tigray proudly exhibits their talentless ways. They’ve always wanted to be Eritreans& copy everything Eritrean. #EritreanArtStolen
@evanzwam@AbiyAhmedAli@trouw The rebels in northern Ethiopia already admitted they started the war by attacking the federal army. https://t.co/uM0gLd6GyQ The federal army launched its operations *after* its forces were attacked. You are leaving out key events to create a false narrative about the war.
Footage of Somalia's president meeting Somali army trainees during his official visit to Eritrea, from @ERiTV_Official news. They are still in Eritrea, not participating in the war in northern Ethiopia as some unscrupulous people want you to think.
@BashirHashiysf You should post the other pictures as well. This does not look like a small contingent. https://t.co/n8iuzTzmXz You lie even when confronted with evidence of the truth. No one should ever trust you.
Pre. Hassan congradulated the trainees for completing rigorous training prog. & underlined contributions they are expected to make in bolstering the SNM. Pre. Isaias for his part expressed Eritrea's honour & pride in the endeavour that reflected special & historic bilateral ties
Ethiopia has thanked Eritrea for its support during this critical time. It has not accused Eritrea of anything, yet @SecBlinken who calls for "respect for sovereignty" targets Eritrea and claims to do so on Ethiopia's behalf. It is a farce. His actions only undermine stability.
Eritrea and Ethiopia remain at peace with each other. The previous rulers of Ethiopia, unable to accept their loss of power and peace between Eritrea and Ethiopia, started another war from their base in a small region in northern Ethiopia. Do not reward their destructive actions.
Four years ago Eritrea and Ethiopia normalized relations, yet new conflict in Ethiopia has claimed countless lives. More than ever, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and peaceful resolution of disputes is essential for stability & development in the Horn of Africa.
Despite his call for "peaceful resolution of disputes" @SecBlinken has not acted against these former Ethiopian rulers who admit to starting the war in northern Ethiopia. Instead he sanctioned Eritrea for defending itself and saving Ethiopia from collapse. https://t.co/FPrlcfPBPC
The United States is designating six Eritrean entities and individuals in connection with the ongoing violence in Ethiopia. The Eritrean presence in Ethiopia has exacerbated the conflict and hindered humanitarian access. Eritrea must withdraw troops immediately.
The proprietor of @TghatMedia says Tigrayans will "defeat the manufactured Eritrean identity." A few months ago he called for a final solution against Eritreans. https://t.co/efzLt394Ja As part of this hateful agenda, his site invents ever more absurd tales defaming Eritreans.
