💰 As a now newly minted venture capital investor in true VC fashion we dropped by @a16z to find more deals 😃
Andreessen Horowitz is one of the largest VC funds in the world managing about $90B in assets and founded by @pmarca and @bhorowitz in 2009
In 2022, a16z published the "American Dynamism" manifesto, which has a lot of overlap with e/acc, because since ~2016 American culture had become very anti-tech and pessimistic about the future with the birth of the degrowth movement
Growth was bad, inventing new things was bad, everything was problematic!
American Dynamism promoted being optimistic about the future and technological growth, which seems obvious in the America of today, but it wasn't obvious at all in 2022, and it's thanks to that and many other things that you see America excelling again in 2026
@stuffyokodraws invited us to their office and kindly showed us around!
They have a free coworking for their portfolio companies to use, in case they don't have an office yet and also I heard there's lots of robots but I didn't see them today
Most interesting is at the front desk is a very beautiful Art Deco sculpture on the wall (I heard it's new)
And that's not a coincidence. Exactly 100 years ago, Art Deco was the art movement that was also about relentless optimism and growth, like American Dynamism and e/acc! It's my favorite art movement (and my dad's too)
Sadly we did not run into @pmarca, maybe next time!
Anyway I'd love to invest in more companies with all my saved up money from 95% indie hacker profit margins because it can't all go into ETFs! So if you're interested, check my little https://t.co/sQ0aiU82PA page and try find my email 😊
En Mallorca todos estamos en contra de la gentrificación hasta que llega un guiri y te ofrece 500.000 euros por el piso del abuelo que tenías que reformar.
I don't know if it's placebo but using Fable for those few days it felt it just never gave up on problems and kept trying crazy ways to get whatever you wanted done. Now back on Opus and it's kinda lazy, thinks things are too daunting and keeps asking if you sure
There seems to be consensus among all professionals in Hungary about the wealth tax: it is a bad idea. Nevertheless, it will be introduced. Socialism prevails again in Hungary and will contribute to the decline. We might get rid of price caps (good!), but Hungary introduces other retarded state regulations.
They don't
They tell European founders to immediately incorporate in the US or they won't even invest
From then on they become American companies and benefit the American people!
From a school notice: "Due to GDPR unfortunately, we cannot share the names of the other students in the class." 🤯
When the GDPR prevents you from knowing the names of next year's classmates, something has gone horribly, Europeanly wrong.
Banning social media for teenagers only puts them in greater danger.
Teens are forced to switch to VPNs — and unlock far worse illegal content.
We’ve seen this before. When the Russian government banned Telegram, 95% of Russian teenagers kept using it. They just moved to VPNs.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Hungary’s Prime Minister is shouting in Parliament that he will become the publisher of a conservative media outlet @mandiner and personally determine its content.
Even under communism, politicians rarely dared to state such ambitions this openly.
Congratulations.
Let Europe classify ASML as a EU security concern and limit sales to EU only.
Then see how many chip companies will settle in Europe immediately.
It’s the last chance.
My guess is ASML will be bought asap from a US or Chinese tech company, losing Europes most valuable AI company.
Ursula von der Leyen now says the rule of law has been restored in Hungary, and EU funds can therefore be released.
Simple questions:
What exactly changed?
What major rule-of-law reforms have been adopted?
What democratic standards have suddenly been met?
The new government's most significant constitutional initiative so far has been to limit the possibility of Viktor Orbán returning to office if Hungarian voters choose him again.
If that is what Brussels considers proof that democracy has been strengthened, then it raises serious questions about the standards being applied.
Nah the definitions of left and right really don't work anymore I think
We're in a completely different world
The liberal left of the 1960s hippies would now be classified as extreme right:
- anti pharma and vaccines
- anti war
- distrust of the CIA (and deep state)
- anti mainstream media
- off grid, self sufficient, trad life
- anti processed food, anti GMO, anti seed oils, instead pro organic/bio food
- free speech absolutism
- anti psychiatry and psych meds
- use psychedelics instead of meds
So I don't think the terms make sense anymore
The EU is 6% of global emissions. Committing economic harakiri in response to climate concerns is pure vanity. Europe can't save the planet because the continent doesn't have any meaningful influence on the outcome.
Dark Bio whitepaper is out!
We're building a system in which a person's health data, their genome most of all, no longer has to live with a custodian to be useful. A system, where data does not move, rather stays on a small device the owner holds.
