@Freakonomics@angeladuckw@NSQ_Show This was the extent of the toxic positivity discussion (ie invalidating your or others' negative feelings bc you can't tolerate the discomfort of experiencing them). Truths about #STAYDC:
1️⃣ The application is way too burdensome.
2️⃣ The potential benefits are amazing. People can cancel all their owed rent, pay future rent, and cover unpaid utility bills.
3️⃣ DC is only doing a fraction of what it should be to reach people.
Let's change that:
Really appreciated how this piece covers some families who doubled up by allowing others to move into their home. Though "guests" tend to get more attention, my fieldwork highlighted the economic precarity that often faces both "hosts" and "guests" in doubled-up households
Love to see sociology informing the public! @HopeMHarvey's research in @socprobsjournal, on the challenges and psychological costs of #doublingup, linked in this piece on housing insecurity during the pandemic @ASAnews @ASA_Family @ComUrbASA https://t.co/zakK7G7gvQ
