[Catalina Island] - @lacolifeguards Baywatch Isthmus crews responded to a vessel taking on water that had run aground to avoid sinking. All 3 POB safely made their way to shore with no injuries reported.

Small plane crash, #Catalina, a small Cessna type aircraft was coming down for a landing and pilot was unable to stop. Pilot and passenger are uninjured and there is no fire at scene. @AvalonLASD

Today, @LASDHQ is grieving. We are shocked/stunned by the sudden loss of a family member. Amber Leist, a @WHDLASD detective, and 12 year veteran of LASD, was fatally struck by a vehicle in @LACity while assisting others. She was an outstanding detective who lead by example.
