I WISH I were joking when I say we were on hold with @PhilaRevenue for 2hr57m + finally got to the front of the line only to be hung up on w/o talking to a human. Am I being punked? I just want to reset my password to access my acct! If not phone, how can I get ahold of someone?!
Today: Made our first $1 from a Labs product 🥹
Keeping expectations low, but anyone who knows us knows this has been a long time in the making so I can't help but celebrate a liiiiitle bit 😉
#tbt to @try_cookin when it used to take bb Connor and Laura *weeks* to try a single marketing experiment (this is hard to admit).
Now, with Gardener Match, we've done an experiment a day for the last 3 days 🤯 (proud of this, though nothing is really working yet...)
after interviewing all the gardeners, we finally sent https://t.co/kEmovHsuDN to our chicago-area waitlist! if you are or know someone in chicago who could use help with their outdoor space, check it out!
1. Org has a climate-related model + data engineer(s) to improve it.
2. Org hires us to design a UI for the model so others can access its insights.
3. We build a web app to put all that ^ online.
4. We then create a UI for collecting new data + configuring the model over time.
Not sure if it’s the template alone, but we wound up converting ~35% of https://t.co/33pDCq5QBs visitors. This was exciting since it was a clear signal to move forward to the next experiment. We're still rookies but experimental rigor is fun to be learning about!
A big breakthrough we had on the Labs side of @lifelikelabs this month was actually writing down an experiment for the first time using this amazing template from Testing Business Ideas by @AlexOsterwalder.
It’s amazing how clarifying writing is. For example, it was hard to answer the “criteria” prompt since it felt like pulling numbers out of thin air. But forcing ourselves to come up with something was helpful in judging results later, which has been a struggle in the past.
Time invested to validate/invalidate core business assumptions:
@try_cookin : 2 years
@learnlistt : 7 months
https://t.co/gCEGYCIDcx: 3 months
https://t.co/ml41wooCoF: 3 weeks
We still don’t have much to show for our efforts, but this is a trend line I’m proud of 📈
