Does it make sense for a generation of startups to die because of what bank they chose?
That choice of bank has nothing to do with whether the product is good, the market needs it, or whether there is a business model.
Startups will die that have all those things—That's unfair
This is not tycoons sitting around with private jets. This is founders who work 120 hours a week trying to make a thing that never existed before. They didn't take any undue risk: they had money in one bank they thought was solvent, and that everyone thought was solvent.
The real victims of the SVB fallout are the depositors:
startups (10 to 100 employees) who cannot make payroll, and will have to shut down or furlough *next week*
If these startups wait weeks/months for their deposits, we have destroyed a generation of US startups, *at random*

Hello world, we’re excited to officially join Twitter!
To kick things off, here’s a brief history of Coinbase Ventures and an overview of how we fit into the crypto ecosystem 🧵
We Twitter alumni throw words like “legendary” around a lot. There’s a lot of love. And so many great people.
But there’s one person whose intellect, fortitude, moral compass, and dedication truly stands out. And that’s my dear friend @vijaya. Hats off to a legendary 11+ years.
@elonmusk No, you’ve killed the bird @elonmusk Everything so many of us worked tirelessly for, what the original stood behind & the values so many fought for. You’ve killed it. RIP Twitter, I loved you so.
This is my brother, Glen. He's a veteran USFS firefighter working the #CaldorFire in California. His truck—and his crew—are damaged, but they're somehow still hanging on.

1/ Today is a big moment for @coinbase as we become a public company. But it’s also a big one for crypto. This all started with the Bitcoin whitepaper 12 years ago, a deceptively simple 9 page document by Satoshi Nakamoto that ignited a global movement. https://t.co/4pE006XTFP
