I actually don’t think the issue is that we need more jobs. Part of the problem is that too much of our survival is tied to employment. There will never be 100% employment & we never do what is necessary to ensure safety & stability for ppl who are unable to work
@JoshuaJH532 @Maritza_2101@Colin_ethics@Jskak21#CDR21 I would just engage in conversation and not make it feel like we needed to have a sit down to talk about their behavior
@JoshuaJH532 @Maritza_2101@Colin_ethics@Jskak21#CDR21 in the past when I have felt the need to be confrontational I’ve said “I’m upset over some things that have happened. Can I talk to you about them and hear your side of the story?” And that’s worked pretty well but now I feel like (1/2)
@Maritza_2101#CDR21 absolutely. I feel the same. Confrontation seemed like some sort of radical act before this class and now I kind of see it as a natural progression of conflict
@lilybuslerr@Maritza_2101#CDR21 for sure!!! It’s such a weird environment sometimes and people can be so mean but I’ve never had trouble once I’ve been nice and transparent about what’s going on behind the scenes
#CDR21 I have heard about the benefits of gratitude in your life for your mindset but I never thought about how it is also a key component of conflict resolution. For example when I’m at work I noticed that I show gratitude that a lot (1/2)
@hasz_jax #CDR21 that’s a really good point. You have to work together so you might as well try and make the situation as friendly as humanly possible.
@JoshuaJH532 @lilybuslerr@Maritza_2101#CDR21 oh absolutely! I couldn’t agree more. Any time I have to interact with a customer service agent I am overtly nice because I know they’re job isn’t easy and they’re more likely to help me when I’m nice
@Maritza_2101#CDR21 that’s absolutely true! I work in customer service as well and I have found that just thanking them for their time or showing respect for their time changes the whole interaction
#CDR21 the concept of “ritual impasse” is some thing I feel like I see quite often people get stuck in a certain role and then progression of the group kind of stops
#CDR21 mixed stances (from this classes reading) sounds like the most common stance that I hear from people who don’t want to take any sort of strong stance in a conversation for whatever reason
