@_MichaelBooth_@MikePMoffatt Anecdotally I've also seen the reverse play out: "well if KW is almost as expensive anyway I may as well live in Toronto".
@howardtayler One of the best changes I’ve made for my RSI is to turn my mouse off and put it behind my monitor if I feel the slightest twinge in my right wrist. This forces me to use the trackpad I have for my left hand, when otherwise I’ll keep using the mouse out of habit.
@rowanoakhill Start subscribing to the “Die Hard is a Christmas movie” philosophy and you can justify anything vaguely fall related. Everything between the actual Halloween movies and October Sky should keep you busy for a while.
@MamaWeasleyy question about balancing long term immunity vs winter wave protection with a booster: we're in Canada and got a vanilla booster in early July. With informed consent we can get a BA1 bivalent in a week (3m), but IIRC 4-5m is better long term. Get it now? Nov? Dec?
@fergus30 The Ask a Manager blog/advice column is great if the format works for you. It’s let me learn a lot by osmosis rather than trying to get through something denser.
@therisingtithes I wouldn't want to vote without reading all of the nominated works, but I don't have the time or inclination to read a set list (rather than whatever I feel like in the moment).
@rowanoakhill Making decaf cold brew is great! I either use it to cut with caffeinated or on its own if I'm craving it but at my caffeine limit for the day. Also, I've found the big bulk containers of PC coarse ground makes serviceable regular coffee but quite good cold brew for cheap.
@MamaWeasleyy To clarify: whether border agents will allow Canadians through who state the reason for their visit as vaccination is one issue, a separate one is if county clinics will continue accepting Canadians once there.
@MamaWeasleyy There’s been rumours that New York State is not going to continue accepting Canadians, but it’s not clear if it’s an actual policy change or just some border guards turning people away. Do you have any NYS sources you could tap to clarify?
@DownGoesBrown@theory_of_ice Slightly offside? 1, maybe you can even it up, maybe not. Crosscheck the goalie? 3, maybe you can win the game, maybe come up empty. Is it fair? Not at all. Fun? Maybe.
@DownGoesBrown@theory_of_ice Dumb idea: the call on the ice always stands, no goals may be overturned. However, if video review shows it shouldn't have been allowed, the refs can award an appropriate number of penalty shots to the other team.
@HSouthwellFE You can also cool yourself off quite well by applying cold where there's lots of blood flow near the surface (neck, under arms, etc). I'd sometimes sit to read/etc with my feet in a bucket of cold tap water and end up chilled.
@HSouthwellFE Growing up my parents had a couple big box fans that they'd set up in windows overnight. They'd experimented to find a good setup with some blow in, some out to set good airflow through the whole house. Then close up the windows and blinds during the day.
