Taiwan solved tax evasion in 1951 with a trick so cheap it should embarrass every tax authority on the planet.

The problem was an all-cash economy full of small shops. A merchant pockets the cash, skips the receipt, and the sale never existed. Auditors can't catch what was never recorded, and hiring enough of them to watch every noodle stand costs more than the missing tax.

So finance chief Ren Xianqun flipped the incentive. Print a lottery number on every receipt. Draw winners every two months on live TV. Top prize today: NT$10 million, about $310K.

Suddenly the customer and the shopkeeper want opposite things. The merchant wants the sale off the books. The customer wants the ticket. And there are millions more customers than merchants. Every transaction now carries a built-in witness demanding the paper trail.

Year one, reported tax revenue jumped 75%, from NT$29 million to NT$51 million. Seventy-five years later, roughly 70% of Taiwanese still play. Convenience stores redeem the smallest NT$200 prizes at the register, so even a coffee receipt feels like a scratch card.

The elegant part is what the audit force costs. The prize pool runs about NT$7 billion a year, roughly $20 million. In exchange, the government gets 23 million unpaid auditors working every checkout line in the country, forever. No inspector general on earth delivers that coverage at that price.

Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Slovakia all copied it. The most effective compliance tool ever built looks like a game, and that's exactly why it works.

this free stanford lecture holds the entire "AI trading" gold rush the 2026 gurus are selling. and the man teaching it isn't pushing a course. he co-founded google brain, then coursera, and gave machine learning away to millions of people for nothing.

what he teaches, calmly, at a chalkboard, is that machine learning is not a prophet. you feed a model examples, it fits a pattern, it guesses the next one. that is the whole "AI that reads the market" pitch, stripped of the mystery. powerful, useful, and completely ordinary once you see it.

and it is old. ng was teaching this in 2008, renaissance was trading on it in 1988, and every lecture is free. same story i told in the article above. you were never locked out of AI. the door was open the whole time.

here is what the bot sellers hide. everyone has the same free algorithms, so the model was never the edge. what wins is the data you feed it and the discipline to trust it across a thousand trades without flinching. that is the part you can't download, and the part no one will sell you.

Itu bukan sekadar nyari file.
Itu mulai terasa seperti partner riset yang benar-benar membaca semua yang pernah kita simpan.
Makanya gue setuju sama satu poin ini.
Kebanyakan orang masih memakai AI seperti mesin pencari.
Tanya.
Jawab.
Selesai.
Sementara sebagian orang lain mulai membangun lapisan kecerdasan di atas seluruh pengetahuan yang mereka miliki.
Dan menurut gue... di situlah perbedaannya.
Karena nilai AI bukan cuma ada di seberapa pintar dia menjawab.
Tapi seberapa banyak konteks yang bisa dia pahami tentang cara kita berpikir, bekerja, dan belajar.

Rasanya beberapa tahun ke depan, punya AI second brain bakal sama normalnya seperti punya Google Drive atau Notion hari ini. 🚀🔥
