Nature recently published a big, beautiful (and sad) feature story on deforestation in the Amazon rainforest and while I learned a lot, I was reminded of how often meat production evades journalistic scrutiny. A lil' thread... 1/ https://t.co/n67sKwuoXr
The processes employed to get bacon/ham mean horses also suffer. Horse farms impregnate horses, extract their blood for a serum, abort their pregnancies, & then sell the serum to pig farms to induce puberty in young pigs. @KennyTorrella’s latest @voxdotcom https://t.co/XRt0GgmmpF

- recommended that anyone lacking the skills to perform reverse genetics engage a core facility or contract research organization"
