Hapa mama Democrat, ed reformer & feminist supporting issues that unleash the talent of all to improve the world. @dcpcsb chair, though tweets are my own.
@arotherham Agreed. Loved it overall but wish the question was asked (alongside the pay raise thing): how are kids going to be in 10 years? We’ve got some catch up to do, ppl!
Plastic bottles like these are high-value plastic called PET (which will have a #1 “resin identification code”)!
When recycling, we need to make sure they’re empty and *re-attach* the cap! The cap is too small to be recycled solo + must latch onto the bottle to survive sorting.
Pizza boxes are rrrrrecyclable! Grease is fine, cheese or pizza is not.
More than 94% of paper mills in the US can handle grease, as it can be removed by the same processes paper mills use to remove inks and colorants.
@SquarespaceHelp help! I'm trying to understand mystery fees I'm getting from Google Suite attached to my Squarespace site and I can't get any clear answers.
In most communities, DC included, recyclables *cannot* be placed in plastic bags.
Plastic bags are our most common contaminant - they jam equipment, causing operations to shut down multiple times/day so workers can cut them out (one of the biggest reasons workers get injured)!
Why do I share DMs calling me a cunt or commenting on my age and physical appearance or wishing for my death or sexual assault? Because the men who write them work among us at hospitals, as firefighters, in the military. They don’t deserve anonymity if they’re toxic or dangerous.
@erinfordc Yay! Kudos to them! Milestones like this are moments to celebrate the high quality school choices so many families in DC enjoy. Grateful for their teachers, school leaders, & esp the chance to choose a program that suits their learning needs.
