A beautiful Cambodian Buddhist pagoda was completely destroyed by F-16 jets, flown by fellow Buddhists, in a violent clash between two predominantly Buddhist nations, ironically sparked by a dispute over control of a Hindu-built temple. What does it truly mean to be a Buddhist?

Demonstrators in South Korea gathered July 27 to protest Thailand's military incursion into Cambodian territory. The protestors expressed opposition to the violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty, calling for diplomatic intervention to halt the aggression and restore peace.
The Real Aggression Behind Thailand’s Victimhood
Thailand is bombing Cambodian soil while manipulating the global narrative—a coordinated campaign of military aggression and disinformation aimed at undermining Cambodia’s sovereignty. These are not isolated incidents or misunderstandings. This is a strategy: invade with force, then lie with confidence.
While Thailand plays victim to the world, claiming Cambodia initiated the conflict, facts on the ground tell a different story. On the morning of July 24, it was Thai forces who opened fire—yet Thai diplomats rushed to the United Nations with false reports that Cambodia had crossed the border first. This wasn’t a communication error. It was a deliberate deception.

Having lived in Cambodia for many years, I’ve seen firsthand the heart and resilience of its people.
Cambodia isn’t a big country, but its people are warm and generous. As the saying goes, “Cambodia is a small country with a big heart.” I’ve seen that play out time and time again.
While elites argue and posture, it’s ordinary people—on both sides—who suffer. The ones who flee their homes. The ones caught in the crossfire. The ones who wake up to find their world shattered by someone else’s decisions.
Tomorrow, Cambodia and Thailand meet in Malaysia. I hope both leaders realize that dragging this out even one more day is senseless. No more rockets hitting homes. No more ancient temples shattered by F-16’s. No more blood spilled over lines on a map.
Time to grow up, step back, and give people the one thing they need most: peace—and the chance to sleep in their own beds again.
Thailand is literally going to war against history. @UNESCO world heritage site Preah Vihear continues to get hit.
You can conquer our territory
You can rob our treasures
But you can’t erase our history/identity
