Gareth's mathematics resources are unparalleled in their ability to develop children's mathematical capabilities, not to mention how good value they are for what schools get. Every school should consider these (and the resources for older pupils). โฌ๏ธ
Just a reminder as we go into a new term, that if you teach Y6 then you can access all of my reading lessons that I plan totally free, here - there are loads of them:

With the new academic year approaching, this picturebook assembly overview might be useful to people. The suggested books cover themes around empathy, inclusion and diversity, and are all texts I've used in the classroom. Any shares appreciated. Link here: https://t.co/JBuWKFD2sh
Almost everyone who works in a primary school accepts that the current curriculum is overloaded. We simply can't squeeze in everything we're supposed to. However, there are two things we must try and ensure take place each day: independent reading and class storytime.
Iโm so inspired by @Suchmo83 . I am currently half way through his new book! Itโs insightful, packed with research and as it โsays on the tinโ a practical guide full of ideas ๐ก that can be implemented straight away. A book that everyone in education should read!
My new book, Primary Reading Simplified, is released this Monday (27th January).
Briefly, I'd like to explain why it exists, who I think will find it useful and where you can find it.

Writing journals for 'free writing' and inventions. A key element of talk for writing and any effective writing approach. CHOICE. What's the point in being taught to write if you never get to write about your own interest, concerns and obsessions?
I've also only read a handful of chapters so far, but I know it will be at least as important as Chris's excellent first book and likely *even more* impactful in schools because the solid practical advice detailed is underpinned by mountains of research and experience!๐๐
Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful!

Thirteen years ago, when Talk for writing across the curriculum was published, I wrote: ... support the campaign to make speaking/listening more central to literacy. Oracy precedes and surrounds reading and writing. It is primary to thought.
