Hello #VSS2023 -- we're excited to share what we've been up to!! Abstracts include some great collaborations with @GolombLab (McNally et al.) and @Jeff_Moher. See you in the sessions!
{1/6}🆕📊🎉 Super excited to share my new #Misophonia research (with Tricia Stefancin, @leberandy, and @z_saygin), out today in @FrontNeurosci for their special misophonia #ResearchTopic!

Huge congratulations to newly minted Ph.D., Dr. Yoolim Hong, who did a fantastic job defending her dissertation today!!! 🎉🎓🍾🥂📄😁👏🏻👏🏼👏🏾 @HongYoolim @leberandy
Finally, we have a poster at #Psynom21, in collaboration with @jeff_moher's lab, at the Friday 12pm (CST) poster session, "The Reduction of Attentional Capture in the Presence of High-Probability Distractors is Context Dependent." We hope to see you there!
Have you read "Progress toward resolving the attentional capture debate," by Luck, Gaspelin, Folk, Remington & Theeuwes,(2021, @VisualCognition)? It's a real page turner😁
Our very own @leberandy offers his hot take, here: https://t.co/Glax4fhAXS
Now out in JEP:General! Visual working memory items drift apart (aka repulse/differentiate) due to active, not passive, maintenance.

(half year late to share bc I was waiting for publication pdf, but realized I'm not allowed to share non-paywalled pdf🤷)
👀🔥 Hot off the press from @HansenHeatherA, @z_saygin, and @leberandy: "What sound sources trigger #misophonia? Not just chewing and breathing." Read Heather's thread to learn all about it! ⬇️
In the Undergrad Just in Time Session:
2) Khandelwal, McKinney, Li, Irons & Leber, "Strategy instruction boost visual search optimality but such improvements transfer poorly to similar tasks."
UG-A7, Sunday 5/23/21, 8pm-10pm EDT, Flamingo
@li_walden, @MollyRoseMedia, @leberandy
Two #VSS2021 posters from our lab coming your way tomorrow:
1) Li, McKinney, Irons & Leber, "Generalization of attentional control strategies across distinct tasks."
C123, Sunday 5/23/21, 4pm-6pm EDT, Egret
@li_walden, @MollyRoseMedia, @leberandy
Congratulations to Dr. @HeisterbergLisa, who successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis today with flying colors!! 🥳👏👏🤩👩🎓 She's earned a well-deserved break before heading back to her 3rd year of med school! 😀🩺👩🔬🦸♀️
Congratulations to another one of our amazing graduate students, Heather Hansen! Heather won second place for her research today at the Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum. We are so proud of you Heather!
Come learn about Vaibhav Khandelwal's thesis project, which asks whether instructional effects on attentional strategy generalize to novel tasks. Available from 3/29-3/31!
Are you ready for #CogFest2021?! To kick off the this year's activities, we're hosting our annual Undergraduate Poster Session, viewable from March 29th-31st. These students have persevered through a pandemic and exemplify OSU's amazing cognitive science research! 🧠 👏👏👏
1st project I started in my PhD, now in AP&P! https://t.co/DQjQZ17smT
Summary: People memorized lots of colored real-world objects, unaware that many objects were same color. When tested on object colors, found swap & shift errors in relation to most commonly studied color.
