We don’t “bleep” anything on live tv in Australia. All international broadcasters take a feed directly from the U.S broadcast- if they don’t “bleep” the footage before sending it to us, then that’s what goes out ! There’s nothing political/no message behind it at all
Bro I’m speechless, because Australian TV didn’t bleep a single word said from Will Smith. Praising this man for standing up for his wife because this is what disabled people have to deal with on a daily. Making ableist/ablenoir jokes about Jada on international TV is not on
@winterbullfinch@HoboBidi@BBCSteveR They do have live television and it’s a 7 second delay on average between the studio tx and what people see on their tv. There is no way to edit it once it’s already happened, all you can do is cut to another camera when you realise something is wrong
@cyberelster @toyoupinkblood @motytchak Most nightly news shows are live in studio. Live broadcasts only have 7 seconds of delay and contrary to popular belief you can’t edit the video before it goes out, once something has already happened. you can cut the tx once you realise something is wrong but it’s already on air
I started to teach myself how to crochet today so I can make some cute clothes and it’s actually very therapeutic once it starts to click in your head. Anyone with adhd or autism should try doing something like this where you can use your hands and zone out for a bit
The /r/ubiquiti subreddit has been going back and forth the last few days on who can make the shortest ethernet cable and it’s been seriously cracking me up.
@AlexandriasTech Honestly idk, sometimes I feel like a hoarder. It’s 10 years old and mostly just a graveyard for spam, but for some reason my brain associated some sentimental value to it, and I’m a creature of habit, so I can’t let it go
My feet are about to fall off after the first day of de-rigging the tennis. Something that took weeks to build has to be taken down in 2 days, in 34 degree weather! nearly over 🥵
@sakunera That pic is just the media managers room he has roughly 10 machines working for him there. There are 2 machines just dedicated to logs that’s how psycho this thing is. All they do is log where all the clips are stored so they can be found easily later on lol pretty hectic
spent last 2 weeks rigging the biggest media workflow job I’ve ever done for the tennis, didn’t realise I would be doing it alone for a few days installing 20+ machines 😂 but it’s been a good challenge and I’ve learnt a lot. Media management is very complex on jobs like this
@sakunera Yeah and that’s just the on-site media management! So machines that can do instant replays, record match, edit suits, graphics, highlight reels. There’s 3 switches, 2 graphics servers, 15(?) ingest machines on site and about 25 more servers and data base servers at the hub 💀
But thats how you learn. When everything works straight away and you don’t need to fault find, you don’t always get that deeper understanding of how the equipment works. Being able to work through the issue is how you discover new layers and processes you didn’t know about before
The main issue I faced was RS422 serial data between the venue and the equipment in our data centre. Took a lot of googling of Sony and EVS manuals, VDCP protocol, and serial connector pin layouts to realise we had the wrong baud rate and polarity settings on our Moxas
Everyone thinks working in TV is so cool, but if you’re an engineer you just spend majority of your time cramped in racks and under desks installing equipment, while dodging 1000 cables and trying not to take anything off air 😅
What are your favourite podcasts? I’ve smashed through 76 episodes of @JackRhysider#DarknetDiaries in the last couple of months, one of my favourite episodes is 17- Finn. Hacking his school’s network with a $52 tablet from Walmart, the way he describes it just cracked me up
And of course other unforgettable episodes are mobman, black duck eggs, Alberto, Stuxnet, 3 Alarm Lamp Scooter, Xbox underground, Operation Socialist, Operation Glowing Symphony, Shadow Brokers, MS08-067, The Courthouse, Dawgyg, The Athens Shadow Games. Some unbelievable stories
“My first period was my computer class- it was boring!
‘This is the part of the computer-‘
well YEAH, no SHIT SHERLOCK. Everyone should pretty much know this by now. I’d rather watch an ANT…like, pick up a leaf… than sit in a classroom”
