50,000 people are still without power in Memphis while Elon's data center draws 160MW from TVA's grid, created by FDR two months after his inauguration. Tech oligarchs siphon our natural resources and legacy infrastructure while Black communities are poisoned & left to perish.
The desalination plant is DONE and we are currently testing the water with engineers, and we pray that we raise funds to operate it daily soon. The team at the plant were down to hear of the pause in operations and delays as so much effort and time were invested in building this plant over the last 4 months!

Operating The Sameer Project plant will cost around $1,500 to produce at least 150,000 liters of fresh water. The operational cost is low so even if we don’t have much money, we can operate it and give the water to trusted partners to distribute!
Your regular funding for water means guaranteed flow of clean water to displacement camps. All we need is $1,500 per day to make this happen!

Our bakery is now closed. We are producing zero bread for families in Gaza. https://t.co/6l9JFjWInX
This is particularly difficult to come to terms with when we remember what people have sacrificed throughout this genocide just for flour. Bread equals survival. When there was nothing else to eat, Palestinians risked, and so many lost, their lives trying to bring home enough flour to feed their families.
We were so proud to build something sustainable in the North: a bakery families could count on for free bread. At full operation, we distributed up to 500 bundles every day - 10 loaves each, 5,000 loaves baked, so that 500 families were able to feel some relief knowing they had at least the bare minimum to eat.
And we can scale up even further to 10,000 loaves per day. The ovens are there. The bakers are there. The families are waiting.
The only thing standing between a closed bakery and thousands of loaves of free bread is funding. It costs just over $1,000 per day to operate our bakery and provide around 500 families with bread.
Help us reopen The Sameer Project bakery. Help us provide bread to the families who have already endured far too much just to survive. Donate to our Food and Water Campaign.

Mike Davis' thesis about the el ninos of the late 19th century: environmental catastrophe wrought famine, but its impact was much exacerbated by colonial administrative malpractice -- which accelerated capitalist market incursion, expropriation, accumulation and underdevelopment.
The water crisis in Gaza is engineered. The goal is to creat extreme suffering from deprivation of basic essentials needed for survival. https://t.co/6l9JFjWInX
The occupation is manufacturing scarcity, they want to crush the soul, the Palestinian spirit.
They want to construct a situation that is so desperate, so impossible to endure, that families in Gaza will leave their land.
As long as we can, as long as you allow us to, The Sameer Project will do everything in our power to stop this. We will support families in their steadfastness. We will not stand by idly, we will act. Mutual aid is resistance against oppression.
Help us so we can all assist Gaza together. Donate to our Food and Water Campaign.

the house is black (1963) is the only film directed by iranian poet and filmmaker forugh farrokhzad. set in a leper colony near tabriz, the film focuses not on the disease itself, but on human dignity, everyday life, and the beauty that endures even in the harshest circumstances.
Great op-ed on why the Global South should use the crisis precipitated by the U.S./Israeli war against Iran to transition from industrial agriculture to agroecology
People should take time to read the first piece in this collection to really grasp the stakes of what is happening right now. Thread of some key definitions and points below 🧵🧵🧵

Pursuant to DoDI 1332.14, any US service member within 365 days of enlistment can report “failure to adapt” and get an entry-level discharge. Low evidence bar. We can help navigate: 1-800-379-2679
We lived through a night beyond description the worst in our entire lives.More than 30,000 tents in Gaza were completely flooded. No one slept, the entire city was in a state of panic. The cold is unbearable, the rain didn’t stop, and the wind tore everything apart.
I personally couldn’t sleep, not just from the cold, but from the cries of people that never stopped… children crying, mothers begging for help, tents flying away, walls collapsing.
After midnight, the sounds were everywhere, and pain filled every corner.
There are children who died from the cold yes, pure cold ended their young lives. And still, no one in this world moved, no response, no voice… as if we are invisible.
This is not just neglect it’s a disgrace to humanity. We are not asking for much, just shelter that doesn’t leak, a blanket to keep a child from freezing.
Those who see all this and remain silent are part of this crime. Please…don’t stop speaking up.
Share, shout, demand… maybe your voices will reach where all doors are slammed in our faces.
This is a significant problem. The West's genocide in Gaza is getting worse, not better, & donations are actually dropping. Find a family who hasn't received one in the last five days (it's easy because they're all at the top on https://t.co/4JhTQTpOfv and give something to them)
In Central Gaza the Sameer Project team distributes water daily except for Fridays. We usually do 16,000 liters but with the heatwave, we increased numbers recently but it always depends on availability. Donate: https://t.co/8dWh4ui2cE
Limited gas for water trucks is a huge challenge across the strip hiking prices for further areas. However, when purchasing large amounts per day, lower prices can be negotiated.
On August 11th, the Sameer Project team distributed 16,000 liters of water. 8,000 liters in Asqalan camp (street 24) and Abu Shaban land (near technical college). Both areas are in Deir El Balah.
Donate to the South campaign for more water distributions: https://t.co/8dWh4ui2cE
