@Aelthemplaer The PR "2020 Omicron" sequences came from search matching "2020" anywhere in the record, not collection dates. They're from 2022. The "reversion panel" is the known signature of amplicon dropout, The authors checked read depth on zero sequences.

A successful 2026 NATO Summit. 🇺🇸
President Donald J. Trump announced a surge in Allied defense investment, creating new opportunities for American companies and thousands of high-paying jobs.
If you pull this thread a little more, you will discover that virtually ALL of the economy is people selling THINGS to people who then buy DIFFERENT THINGS.
On April 1, the #GDPNow model nowcast of real GDP growth in Q1 2025 is -3.7%: https://t.co/T7FoDdgYos. #ATLFedResearch

I know it's not very charitable of me, but I think a lot of the fascism debate on the left came down to "well, if we admit Trump/MAGA is fascist, or plausibly so, then we'll be admitting there *are* things worse than liberalism and Democrats"
The drop in the Atlanta Fed's Q1 GDPNow is almost entirely due to the 26% increase in the Jan trade deficit amidst the rush to buy goods ahead of Trump's tariffs
That effect is bad, but unlikely to cause Q1 GDP to come in at -1.5% unless Trump goes through with Can/Mex tariffs
Dems passed some of the biggest economic measures in history in 2021. The constituency for progressive legislation is erasing itself before our eyes because 100M people decided to get their news from algorithmic social platforms that systematically lie to them.
The climate crisis is extreme. But this guy's methods are so terrible that it makes one wonder if it's a ploy to discourage action.
We do actually have great models for climate change and they come from the IPCC. Follow the science, not this quackery.
It wasn't a Hitlergruß, but it's censored in German media
It wasn't a Hitlergruß, but white nationalist Nick Fuentes praised it
It wasn't a Hitlergruß, but ethno nationalists on Telegram are rallying behind it.
At some point, it doesn't matter what it was supposed to be.
insanely funny to have the likely future Prime Minister of Canada just take my chart and intentionally crop out the watermark where I say I made it lmao
I think about bank accounts like an agreement. You let the bank make an account with funds in your name. You are guaranteed that this money is available to you under certain conditions at cost to the bank in the form of interest. It's a legal agreement, not a vault!
I would like to withdraw £20,000
Bank: What’s it for?
None of your business, it’s my money
Bank: We might not be able to let you withdraw it, if you won’t tell us what’s it for
(If you need permission to withdraw your own money, it’s NOT YOUR money anymore)
I think many progressives are smarter than this. But if you compare American healthcare to that of other OECD nations, it's no wonder people want something else (even if it's generic)
We pay more and our outcomes aren't as good- this simple notion is potent.
They genuinely don't think there's any difference between those healthcare systems. They think the rest of the world gets instant free healthcare on demand, with no wait times or denials, and all paid for by taxing the ultra rich. You cannot convince them otherwise.
Just a note of caution: When Smolders et al. say that the mean “AMOC collapse time” estimate is 2050, this is the estimated *tipping point*. There’s still another Century during which the current dwindles down to zero (in the models, which themselves are loaded with uncertainty). This may come as little comfort to many, especially those in Northern Europe, but I think it’s important to clarify that most climate scientists do *not* foresee an end of agriculture in Northern Europe by end of Century. In fact, when I asked one of the leading AMOC scientists about this (a co-author of many of the papers raising the alarm about AMOC collapse), he said the idea that it would be too cold to produce food by end of this Century was “ridiculous”.
