They murdered her because she refused to bow down to their Islamic dictatorship and because she was singing and dancing. Singing and dancing are forbidden for girls in the Islamic Republic. Parents who were peacefully demanding protection for school girls, who are at risk of being attacked with poison gas in class, were arrested at a protest in Shiraz, Fars province.

More than a thousand school girls, as well as some school boys, have been deliberately attacked with poison gas in classrooms across Iran since November.
