Our paper detailing the investigation of the first outbreak of #COVID19 in a skilled nursing facility in Illinois. We found a SARS-CoV-2 point prevalence of 26%—importantly, 39% of cases remained asymptomatic over 30 day follow-up. https://t.co/gxK8pBn6wW
Identifying and controlling nursing home outbreaks poses a significant challenge, though: symptom ascertainment in older individuals with major comorbidities can be difficult, as is effectively implementing infection prevention and control practices.
