Was steht häufiger in der Zeitung?
@soumitrashukla9 I teach a class on occ. choice for business students where I show them the Riviera paper with the “hire for attitude” quote. In the final class we have a guest speaker from a big consultancy and he uses the exact quote word by word for their hiring philosophy.
What a wonderful group of field experimenters! The AFE is in its full glory as these conference goers besiege our UChicago Econ home!
Scientifically, everyone knocking it out of the park, including our 3 fascinating keynotes, @I_Am_NickBloom@UriGneezy@S_Stantcheva
@D_Langenmayr Julius Düker from Uni Ulm has a field experiment on this question and if I recall correctly they find that endogenous group formation outperforms random assignment bc higher social connection facilitates cooperation. Haven’t seen a draft yet though!
Today I learned that one of our treatments has been rolled out to the entire company. If we extrapolate from our results, people soon will be better qualified for their jobs and a bit more satisfied with them, which - coincidentally- makes me more satisfied with my job as well!
@nccyang Great thread! I feel like many PhDs are not aware how valuable they can be for companies. I always ask how much it would cost them to hire a consultant to do the project. Suddenly, giving a PhD access to data vs. paying a 1000$ daily rate seems like an easy decision to make.
@jenniferdoleac @DurRobert @mosenkis I would love to see a similar study in an organizational context! Every time we discuss field exp with firms their biggest fear is backlash from employees/customers which never happens no matter the intervention.
@angeladuckw Putting things in plain sight or hiding them works really well for me. Running clothes next to the bed, dental floss on the bathroom shelf vs. phone in a drawer and snacks in a closed cupboard.
Using LLMs for social (simulation) science https://t.co/ZLCtXlfj1r
Once we figure out how to scale it, this approach could revolutionize agent-based simulation modeling for nuanced, multifaceted silicon samples
