@HLockeSTEM Chiming in Canada. I’d say it’s neither the exception, nor the rule. It’s completely possible to have an undergrad-led (and meaningful) active research program. Though the pace of “output” is very different from R1, so that can make it tough to secure the big grants.
Dr. Deepa Pureswaran (@NRCan and @UNB) and I (@UNBC) are looking for a grad student interested in bark beetle pheromone communication and evolution.
The project scope will be tailored to the graduate level of the student.
