When I was elected @unitetheunion GS, I promised to uncover the truth about allegations of historical corruption, particularly in relation to the Birmingham Hotel and Conference Centre. I can now provide information from the independent inquiries I commissioned, through this interim report: 👉 https://t.co/zYmHseXDeG
EXCL: Former Unite boss Len McCluskey enjoyed private jet flights and football tickets arranged by the firm who built a multi-million pound hotel for the union, a report seen by BBC finds

Clickbait has become ‘self-perpetuating cycle’ drowning out genuine news: "The effectiveness of clickbait-style posts is also affecting the kind of stories news sites and newspapers write – more simplistic, emotive news is the order of the day"

Boldness & ambition ( well, basic maintenance) is desperately needed in our vaunted "cultural quarter." Austerity, other priorities - we get that. But this degradation of a key civic space is depressing. The sheer can't-be-arsedness of it.
@bdh_04 I appreciate that. Osbornomics has left councils everywhere operating hand-to-mouth. But it's the mismatch between the story we tell ourselves ("ooh, another Grade One listed cathedral. Aren't we great?")and the reality. And visitors notice, too.
@GavinBuckland1 Unilever doing what they do: identifying a "need" no-one ever thought they had and providing us with a product to meet it. Anyway, Lynx stynx.
Lovely, yes, but wildly over-spec for such a small town and a direct product of Victor Orban's use of football as a propaganda tool.
