I think that in the future, social media will continue to pave new ways for people to succeed regardless of their nationality or primary language. We will be able to recognize the talent and hard work of others from all around the world.

I first got really into YouTube in 2007 because I could find (illegally uploaded) international media. It was the first time I paid much attention to content made outside of the US. Now I see more media from other parts of the world (S. Korea) being celebrated.

The end goal for any company using social media is to create awareness of their products while not coming off as an annoying spammer. Referral & ROI metrics help libraries know if they are reaching people and inspiring them to go to the library.

Personally my favorite privacy feature at the library has always been self check-out machines. I felt more free to check out any book that I wanted because I didn't have to face somebody who might judge what I'm reading/watching. #INFO246w75

@mlisadventure I agree, Krystal. I like being able to see my entire checkout history with my library account, and I like getting new recommendations based off of my browsing history, but if somebody has a problem with that, then they should be able to decide to opt out.

I became very interested by how the libraries replaced in-person events with social media events during lockdown. Rather than going to a book signing, I watched a google hangout with a local author. She drew pictures of the kids attending as she answered questions. #INFO246w621

@Library_Laine Hi Elaine! I loved the video, and I actually grew up in El Sobrante, which is right next to Pinole. I chose SF for my hometown for this class because I've lived/ worked here for a long time time and I'm more familiar with it, but I know Pinole.

@Sonam_lib Hey Sonam, I love the picture. At first I thought I saw a picture of regular trees, but then when I looked closely I could see the sculptures and they're really beautiful. I'll have to visit this garden one day.

@jettkuch Hi Jett. I've lived in Norcal for 24 years, and I've never spent longer than a week in Socal. The last time I properly visited was in 2004 I believe. I do think that our cultures are very different, but I know that I'm also basing this off of stereotypes.

@Sonam_lib I Sonam! I agree that I'm so lucky to live within walking distance of three different libraries. Back when I used to live in smaller towns, I struggled just to walk to one library.

@JeannaMichel_ @readlikeasloth Jeanne, I was going to say the exact same thing. I find absolutely nothing enjoyable about 100+ degree weather. I live in SF and it's pretty cold, windy, and foggy in the summer.
