At Lightfield Industries, we thrive to make art more accessible and sustainable by creating accurate, high quality digital twins for archival, XR and beyond.
@mlimper_cg if by working you mean producing an output then yes. however it was proven by multiple entities that they employee drones of 3D artists that do AI generated models manually :) so it is very misleading to say the least.
@Azadux This will strip AO textures for example as the blender shader doesn’t support it. There is Apples usdzconvert python script which is better suited for this.
@ProtonDrive@ProtonPrivacy it's sadly way too slow to use for large files. also needs a sync progress. which file is it uploading and downloading and at what speed? it's crazy that is not considered an mvp requirement for a product that you are also aiming at businesses.
@tina__nigro it's made for large scenes / collections of objects. it has a clear purpose for large animation or VFX. for single objects / web applications at least I see little benefit with USD over glTF. up to this day we still do not have a standard way of rendering a USD on the web.
@warrenm@natbro We have 15 tickets with them on a variety of issues across SceneKit, RealityKit and ARKit. 0 have been replied to or addressed. best part is one of them we know multiple people filed and found that there is a clear memory leak in their API. Xcode shows as much. @Apple
@fsiddi This is horrible. If you guys haven't done so already I would reach out to the team @Cloudflare who I am sure would love to help out an open source community in need.
@ElliottRound@m_xrstudio@INVOLV3D_ hey @ElliottRound fantastic results. If you guys are interested - since you mentioned mobile capture next let's talk on how to possibly work together as we already have a full blown scanning app for iOS and we are always looking to take it to the next level.
On objects like this the mesh is still way superior. You can map it with high resolution textures that do not fall apart once you zoom in close like GS currently does. Where GS comes in is with objects that are hard to capture using PG. Then again you might as well take a high res video. Unless you really need to to be ready for XR.
