Texas Republican Women Declare War on Weed While Their Own Party Cashes In

AUSTIN — In a stunning display of priorities, elderly Republican women across Texas have announced that marijuana is the single greatest threat facing the state, eclipsing every other issue including education, infrastructure, border security, and the fact that their own elected officials helped build the medical marijuana industry.

"Those Democrats want to legalize the devil's lettuce," said one Odessa-area activist, clutching her pearls so tightly they nearly burst. "We can't have that in Texas."
When informed that Governor Greg Abbott signed the Compassionate Use Act into law in 2015, creating the state's medical marijuana program, the woman insisted the governor had been tricked by "those sneaky liberals in Austin."

State-level elected officials in charge of entire agencies in the state of Texas have been found to even grow medical marijuana and hemp, yet the blue-haired brigade remains laser-focused on keeping recreational use banned.

Sources close to the movement confirmed that the women believe the real problem is "young people having fun," not the political class profiting from the very plant they claim to hate.

"Medical marijuana is different," one supporter explained. "That's for sick people. Recreational is for degenerates who don't want to work. There's a difference."

When pressed on whether any of the state's top Republicans had financial stakes in the medical marijuana or hemp industries they helped create, the group collectively changed the subject to drag queens.

Problem solved. Now we move on.

Apparently not.
Pressure continues to mount on Corrupt Midland County Judge Terry Johnson following clear allegations of identity theft under Texas Penal Code §32.51. Releasing a private citizen’s Social Security number and date of birth from a system under his office’s control is not a “mistake” — it’s a state jail felony.
“He needs to be prosecuted.”

Midland ISD just took a stand.
On Tuesday night the board voted unanimously to challenge the state’s recapture system in court. I fully support that decision and am excited that this board is acting bold with taking action. Here’s why I voted in-favor and was excited to do so!

I’m not going to pretend the equity cases from the ’80s and ’90s never happened. They did. The state had to close the gap between rich and poor districts. Fair enough.

But what we have now is different. The state sets the maximum rate we can charge, then decides how much of what we collect we’re allowed to keep. In Midland that means roughly twenty-five cents of every local property-tax dollar leaves town. We’ve already sent more than a billion.

At that point this stops being equalization. It becomes a statewide property tax with the school district acting as the collection agent. Article VIII, Section 1-e says the state can’t do that.

When I was deciding whether to support this lawsuit, I focused on six questions:

1. Isn’t this settled after Morath?
Morath was decided on the facts that existed in 2016. We’ve paid another half-billion dollars since then and the rate compression has only gotten tighter. Courts look at the current reality, not the reality from a decade ago.

2. Why sue a Republican Legislature?
Because the Constitution doesn’t care which party is in charge. We’ve tried the legislative route. When the structural problem stays the same year after year, you either accept it or you test it.

3. Aren’t you just trying to keep oil money for yourselves?
We’ve already sent more than a billion dollars of local tax money to the state. That’s not theoretical. The question isn’t whether Midland has mineral wealth. The question is whether the state can keep treating local property taxes like a statewide revenue stream while claiming it isn’t a statewide tax.

4. What happens if you win?
The state would have to redesign the system so local districts keep real discretion over the taxes they collect. That could mean more golden pennies, different compression rules, or some other structure that still funds poorer districts without turning the rest of us into collection agents. We’re open to any of those solutions. We just want the Constitution followed.

5. What about poorer districts?
Every kid in Texas deserves a solid education. That’s not in dispute. The Constitution requires an efficient system and it prohibits a statewide property tax. Those two things are supposed to live together. Right now they don’t. Fixing that doesn’t mean abandoning poorer districts. It means the state has to fund its obligations the honest way instead of through a backdoor property tax.

6. How much is this lawsuit going to cost?
We’ll manage it carefully. Contingency or hybrid arrangements exist for a reason. The bigger cost is continuing to ship tens of millions out of Midland every year under a system that keeps shrinking local control. That’s the number that actually matters.I answered those six questions for myself. That’s why I support this lawsuit.

Terry Johnson is reportedly using his position to dox citizens, which is an egregious abuse of power. Irrespective of one's opinions or feelings towards a person, doxing is not an acceptable practice. Failure by the DA and/or Sheriff to charge Terry Johnson would warrant their own scrutiny. It is hoped that the victim will take legal action against Terry Johnson and utilize the legal process to remove him from office.

Terry Johnson redacted phone number and address to skirt the class b penal code that was updated in 2025 to include electronic devices. But since his intent was to harm; felonies instead of class b.

I'm absolutely disgusted. Midland County Judge Terry Johnson committed identity theft — a state jail felony under Texas Penal Code Section 32.51 — by releasing a citizen's personal data, including Social Security numbers and dates of birth. Someone in Midland County gave him access to sensitive information from the state database used for law enforcement driver's license checks, and he misused it out of personal spite.

This isn't just local corruption. Texas has a multi-billion dollar tech industry, and data centers represent a trillion-dollar investment across America. Texans are already distrustful, calling these facilities surveillance centers. One emotional, corrupt official just handed every conspiracy theorist the perfect "see, I told you so" moment and put the entire industry at risk.

I'm a pro-technology advocate educating voters on why data centers matter — the pros outweigh the cons. Cloud computing, navigation software for commercial airliners, and our entire new knowledge economy all depend on them. President Trump and Governor Greg Abbott have both emphasized how critical these investments are for America's future.

Now, because one judge couldn't control his emotions, he's confirmed that corrupt officials can't be trusted with personal data.

This is exactly why he must be criminally charged. Leadership matters. The rule of law matters. We cannot tolerate elected officials who break the laws they're sworn to uphold — especially ones who are emotionally and mentally unstable. Judge Johnson must resign and face charges.
