We've rolled into June, which starts the peak of lightning and lightning fatality season in the United States.
As you spend more time outside, remember these things:
* There is no place outside that is safe during a thunderstorm
* When thunder roars, go indoors
A 20-year-old man in Florida was struck and killed by lightning while kayaking yesterday.
This is the 2nd known fatality in the U.S. in 2026 and 100th in Florida since 2006.
Boating is the 3rd deadliest activity with respect to lightning.
