GOLD OVERTAKES TREASURYS IN CENTRAL BANK RESERVES
Gold became the largest central bank reserve asset at the end of 2025, accounting for 27% of global reserves, ahead of U.S. Treasurys at 22%. The shift was driven largely by soaring gold prices. Demand remains strong, led by China, whose central bank has expanded its gold holdings for 18 consecutive months as countries continue to diversify reserves.
