@therunchat Hit the water early, take something as often as possible. Small sips if I'm not thirsty. Pinch the far side of the cup. One big gulp first, pour the rest on my head if it's hot. Sometimes grab a second cup. Carry it for a bit if need be.
@therunchat@ChiMarathon I've ran other large races where participants jump corrals. I don't think it would be possible in Chicago. The gun goes on time. Participants can see the elites start on screens. Ample facilities and clearly marked paths.
Tyreek Hill ran 6.70 at the USATF Masters meet’s 25-29 category 🐆 🤡
3 high school boys ran faster at #NBNationals this morning in the prelims.
Maybe call them out first before going after Olympic and World Championship medalist 🐸 🍵
@Mollifar talked Aoife into wearing swirls in her hair instead of the double French braids she has insisted on for the last months. They're both excited for this change in style.
Story:
The school records at my HS were 2:08 and 53. I KNEW I wanted to run in college and had the talent to get there. No one from my HS had been recruited for track.
I made a plan. I ran 4 races at every dual meet to get a workout. I researched invitationals and emailed meet..
@whatsnextdave@JasonFitz1 I'd recommend @infinityrunco . I knew him as a friend and we started working as athlete/coach a few years after that. We took my marathon time from 2:44 to 2:27 and counting.
A tip of the hat to @BiomechMax for alerting me of this research.

It's always the same story... Felt a pop, and had some pain, the pain got much worse a few days later.
Now they're miserable.
Mild/mod OA--->Degen root---> subchondral fx/intense edema.
You know the diagnosis in one minute if you listen.

Ever wonder why fluoroquinolones increase the risk of tendon rupture?
It seems so random that a whole class of antibiotics could cause tendon injuries, but the risk is real.

In rehab and in sport, most rapid changes will come from giving the athlete lots of the thing they're missing, often at the expense of what they already have. Longer term growth comes from giving the athlete the right amount of each thing and neglecting nothing.
And FYI...it's always been like this.
I've traced the history of training trends back to the early 1900s...
And we generally alternate periods of emphasizing endurance side, then a decade later heavy interval or speed side...
We just bounce back and forth...
How about local Jamoree’s instead?!

@therunchat A6: I haven't found a shoe that can deal with ice and pavement. Micro spikes can't do both and switching them off and on is a pain. If it's icy I'm inside.
