I have held numerous appreciation weeks/months for black characters that did not get much attention (but yet every time I held an appreciation week for a yt male character that I adore, I had subtweets thrown at me 🙄), I made a FB group for black Degrassi fans that currently is very inactive because people have not shown in an interest in participating, I made a Discord for my fellow black fans to participate in that also went very inactive, I ran a podcast with JC that I discontinued stopped because I did not see much support from the fandom, I have archive accounts on here dedicated to the black female characters that don’t get much attention, same with my TikTok. Despite the lack of attention and recognition I get for these things, I still do them and will keep doing them because the black characters on Degrassi deserve for someone to defend them and love them like I do.

When it comes to the culture in the Degrassi fandom since 2020, no one has worked hard to have discussions on the series’ issues with anti blackness like I have. No one has extensively called out the anti blackness in the fandom as much as I have and while there are yt content creators in the fandom who are actively trying to center their voices in these discussions right now because they have the clout that I don’t , no one can take this from me.
